Quite frankly all of my patience is gone. I've cashed all of my shreds of zen in the past six weeks that I keep stored for this game when it becomes frustrating. And on what? A lack of Concept Art. Week in and week out I come to this site on Wednesday and wait. Wait for what? Concept Art that never seems to come. And so I'm done with waiting, and now I start protesting. And so I wonder if others will do that with me.

What is the problem?

The problem is that we know for a fact that the concept art for the next several Mechs are done. And have been done for quite some time. We also know that there is literally nothing holding back their release (there isn't, I've asked around). Now typically PGI would stick to releasing one piece of Concept Art per month on a Wednesday, this meant very little for them as it didn't guarantee when the Mech would be in the game. It was simply a piece of content for people to latch onto and talk about. I've grown very fond of this, especially since Alex (Flyingdebris) is the Concept Artist behind MWO. To me, the concept art means more than the Mech actually being put in the game. That could just be me though.

What is it you want?

Call me entitled, but I want the next two pieces of Concept Art released in relatively quick succession. This shouldn't be a problem because PGI did this before with the Highlander and the Flea. Even if they didn't mean for it, the fact of the matter is that it did happen so it shouldn't be an issue to do again. Especially since the art is done.

What are you going to do about it?

Simple. I am not going to give PGI anymore money until they release the next two pieces of Concept Art. They can view my financial records, they know that I'm not just some guy who wasn't going to spend money in the first place. Nor am I an Old Man who dropped $120 USD for his Gold and is QQ'ing about wanting his money back. I like this game, I've got money to throw at it. But I don't have to seeing as how I'm sitting on close to half a billion CBills.

And as for why the next two pieces?

Well see, I can imagine the next piece of Concept Art is released next month. But I don't particularly care about this art to be honest. It's going to be an Assault, and we all know the short list of Assault Mechs it could be. No, I am far more interested in seeing what the Mech after it is. And because of that I don't imagine PGI is going to be so forth coming with releasing the art for it.

What do you intend to accomplish?

I want PGI to realize that there's a group of players out there who appreciate actual art more so than pictures of Mechs that they have no interest in. Especially ones that require them paying in cash to acquire. I want to start a list of people who won't resume MC purchases until PGI has released the next two pieces of Concept Art. If you want to join me in this little sit-in, that'd be swell I'd enjoy the company.

No Concept Art. No MC Purchases List:

1. Norris J Packard
2. Conzilla
3. Enig
4. Haruko
5. Barghest Whelp
6. Odanan
7. Cerebelli
8. Craftyman
9. benth

they can't catch up with production if they keep releasing concept for new mechs.

best case scenario, generation 5 mechs are clan mechs. and by the time production finishes genration 4 (flea-highlander). it will be time to announce the clans. along with the clan mech concepts. probably keeping the top on the whole clan thing so they can't show the next one.

This is wrong.

Releasing Concept Art does not mean that they have a date that they are then stuck to.

nobody is saying they have a date or anything. but it doesn't make sense to be releasing mech concepts 6-7 months before the mech comes out.

cuz god knows it takes much shorter time to make a concept art (a week) than an actual mech (1 month). at the fastest pace u get 3 concept arts and 1 new mech per month. and thats just not realistic or prudent as the gap between concept release and actual mech production gets longer and longer.

they are just trying to close that gap right now.

I give you points for eloquence, and I would also like to see more information about what's coming in the near future, and more concept art, but it does feel like you're taking this too seriously.

Easy dude. Nothing is ******, dude. Come on. You're being very undude.

Oh well, good, thing they waited two months.

I'm pretty sure that you'd consider that a long enough wait seeing as how if they dropped down to a 2 month wait in between Mechs that this would amount to an 8 month gap.

So releasing the concept art shouldn't be a problem.

Not really.

I am just perturbed by the fact that delaying something that has no barring on their time-tables (seeing as how it has been done for literal months now) is still going on.

A lot of you guys don't get this, but the concept art? I am by no stretch of the imagination here exaggerating, has been done for about a quarter of a year if not longer. There is absolutely no reason for the continued delay. Especially with no excuses to sit behind.

EXDEE LE REDDIT

But on a more seriousness note, I am peeved.

If PGI chose to delay the Trebuchet (and as a result every other Mech) by two months I am pretty sure you'd all be up in arms.

This is basically the same thing.

Yes, but people think they have. The more concept art they release and the quicker they release it, the more obvious it appears how quick the follow up development actually is. :)

Mhm...I'm pretty sure you already looked there, but did you try deviantart for concept art? Okay, it's more fan-art there, but there are still many great pieces.

Like this for instance:

LOL ohh a boycott! If this doesn't work I would suggest stamping your feet. Holding your breath might be a next step but make sure you're sitting down so you don't get hurt if you pass out. :)

I have seen all of the BattleTech work FD has put online, I care about no one else's since it doesn't impact the final look of the Mechs in MWO.

I see that you are pretty upset. I do hope this means you will be leaving the game for a "break".

No not really. I don't think many people would really care if it was released two months later. It's done very little to change the metagame, just like the Spider. It's nice its in the game, but I doubt the sky would fall if they delayed it.

Also, you're burnt out. How on earth you have 500million C-bills is insane. Like, do you not do anything else with your time? Give the developers some space man. Don't be THAT guy.

Yeah. If MWO just got one thing right, it'd probably the design of the mechs. And flying debris it at the front. :)

It's cute that you guys think that me exercising my ability to withhold what PGI uses to continue running MWO is just the act of a child.

No money, no MWO.

It doesn't matter what my personal reason is for it, if more people either stop giving PGI money (either due to a lack of interest or personal dissatisfaction) then it hurts them considerably.

PGI can't even get IGP to spring for more employees. What world do you think live in that leads you to believe that MWO isn't cash poor?

I get what you are saying, and I want to see the art too. For now I slake my thirst with fan made videos that capture the heart, the art and the viciousness of Battletech.

how do you KNOW they are done?

I mean yes, they have broken the earlier release pattern, but if an artist was moved to a new job, task, department, etc, then they may have had to move concept art to the back burner. Lots of maybes here.

Personally I hope they are sitting on several juicy concept art and will release several at once (hint: Clans will have to appear eventually) but i'm not going to get mad at them for changing the release pattern.
