Consumables

An extension to the module system is being introduced on March 19th. Players will now be able to equip a variety of consumable module items. Upon release players will have access to Coolant Flush, Air Strikes, and Artillery Strikes. These new items will be available for C-Bill and MC purchase. Details will be forthcoming in an upcoming Command Chair post here www.mwomercs.com/forums/forum/102-command-chair/.
Community Events

After a hugely successful Be A Hero Challenge weekend, we’ve decided to add more events to our March schedule. Expect to see a variety of different challenges inspired by the community’s feedback! Also coming in March, Design a Trial Mech challenge. Players will be able to design a Heavy Trial Mech build based off one of the existing heavy `Mech chassis. The wining loadout, will be made available for uses as a Trial Mech throughout the month of April.
Performance

On March 5th Host State Rewind (HSR) goes live. This new system allows players with high latency pings to fire and hit more reliably using Lasers, Machine Guns, and Flamers. Often referred to as the lag shield effect, HSR will significantly improve the reliability and accuracy of weapon hit detection, making certain BattleMechs much easier to hit. We anticipate overall damage will increase, resulting in some possible upcoming weapon balancing changes if needed.

That depends.

Do they plan on letting you buy all of them either currency or only some with one currency and some with another (or both)?

The article says "and". So that tells me that I can grind and buy with c-bills or crack out the credit card and use MC.

Sounds like both so far as it says "Available for C-Bill AND MC." No point panicking unless we find out other wise.

Just because you can buy them with Cbill means nothing.

They are bringing back the exact same problems repair and rearm created

To remain fully competitive you will be purchasing consumables with MC or cbills.

This puts Premium accounts at a huge advantage even if the Cbill price is reasonable.

PAY TO WIN END OF STORY

(I have premium and spare MC and I still dont like this)

Again, that depends.

It lacked the key word of "all". Without that word, it still may mean they plan on separating them.

I am just saying.

I'm not sure what any of this means.... but I'm pretty sure it means the end of MWO. So, time to speculate and panic.

:D

REALLY looking forward to seeing what the air and arty strikes will look like. These could seriously change the game/tactical environment.

As long as the equivalent cbill price is lower, I think it's prob alright.

I know, I am just saying that if he had thrown in the word "all" we wouldn't be having this conversation right now.

Chill the frack out Chicken Little.

Coolant flushes (meh) and Air/Artillery strikes will be so situational as to be laughable I predict.

Coolant flushes could be useful on the hotter maps like Caustic and the new desert map. Air and Artillery strikes will be effective against camped/entrenched opponents.
Don't want to get hit by artillery? Don't stop moving.

If the c-bill cost for these consumables is unsustainable for a free player then yes it will be "gold ammo", aka pay-to-win.

There is more to this than mere "you can purchase it with in-game money stop whining."

Situational or not out of game resources balancing in game combat = bad idea every damn time

Looks like this thread is doing it's job already, just as like litter bins.

Tip; If you can buy them with CBills it means everything.

Just think - for the love of god, just try it once.
If you buy a consumable bonus for MCs, that's real money, so you won't be pi$$ing it away using it for every tuppeny & ha'penny pug match, so if you go into a match without one of your own, it's not like taking a knife to a gunfight..

If you buy them for C-Bills (at a high price) you won't be doing that either - Thus, you'll keep them back for when it really counts, or you'll be a **** and chuck your heard-earned away in situations where it doesn't matter.

ZOMGSSS!

Hell, it doesn't really matter if they cost more than an XL300 - for the amount of times you'd actually want to use them (maybe once per week, when you're playing that pre-arranged scrim or league match), then who cares what they cost as long as it's free?

What the hell else are you going to do with your pretend made-up space dollars but spend it on stuff to waste in a game?
