It doesn't happen often, but sometimes you run into a PUG teammate who is willing to lay it on the line for his teammates.

Long story:
I'm playing Frozen city, in my Atlas, duelling with a Stalker next to the drop ship. My team is fighting elsewhere, the other team is tagging me, but not engaging for some reason. Anyway, after a long and tense duel, I pull the longest straw and the Stalker crumbles.

That's when a factory fresh enemy Splatcat (6 x SRM6) rides in triumphantly, ready to finish off my crippled mech. Out of nowhere, however, our hero Reax comes flying in from left field in his Dragon Flame, pouring out such an atrocious amount of destruction that the Splatcat is stripped of rear armour and forced to let his prey (i.e. me) slip away. He turns around to deal with our hero, and I blast his rear center torso again, making it glow orange in the HUD.

Finally, the Splatcat regains his focus and switches back to fire on me. He smashes one of my torsos, taking an arm off with it. I let rip with Large Lasers, Large Pulse Lasers and SRMs, and my Atlas overheats. I shut down, and the Splatcat opens its missile bays for the killing blow.

Have no fear,Reax is here. As I'm powered down, he steps between me and the Splatcat. The Splatcat lets loose a full volley of SRMs, Reax shields me from the blast, and as I power back up I'm able to step out on the side and kill the Splatcat as well.

No kills were awarded for our hero, Reax, this day. But if anyone ever earned a Saviour Kill bonus, it was him.

Short story:
Reax is a real gangster homeboy, he'll ride with you till it's over, dawg. If you see him on the battlefield, stay close to him.

What a legend! It's a shame there's no way to amply reward people who do things like this...there should be some way in which we could nominate people for some kind of 'Mech Legend' banner to recognise acts of heroism and valour on the battlefield. Stories should be told, and songs should be sung about them throughout the ages.

I love it. I should note the names of the people who've saved my *** on the battlefield as well. There are some great team players out there in PUG land. :(

And that is exactly what the Dragon is for.
To either sanitize the other mechs off of an assault mech or make someone's life so utterly miserable that they have to deal with the dragon or die from having open surgery committed upon their mechs.

And if need be to absorb hits for the Brawlers while they get their bearings or recover.

To top it off the chassis can cap, very effectively when properly built.

Congratulations for Reax for not only demonstrating superlative team mate skills, but for rocking the Dragon proper. :(

Agreed...the Dragon is a hell of a bodyguard/picket meck for heavy/assault formations. It excels at getting in the way...and will do so even better once it can bodyslam its opponents again.

Now I have the mental image of a bunch of dragons wearing earbugs and dark shades, surrounding a Stalker, and pig-piling on top of anything that comes close.

Well if you look at the silhouette it is built like a line backer....

The Linebacker is a lot more hunched-over, though, and it has reverse-joint legs.

They really should implement a "Take one for the team" award.

perhaps call it "Sacrifical move"

I wish they'd implement friendly damage analysis so people would know when to jump in the way more ...

A jpeg of the medal of honor! For conspicuous acts of gallantry and intrepidity above and beyond the call of PUGs. :(

Great story. The team mate moments are by far my favourite thing in this game so far. Onya Reax for doing the right thing.
