Hey guys, I'm a professional designer irl, and I love drawing mecha stuff. I've been sketching things like this for a time. Nowadays, especially, I am reading battletech novels so sometimes I'm like; "Hey I like this mech, I wonder how it would look like with a modernized concept." and I know PGI is busy and they can't remake all the mechs, so i can't let my imagination stand unsatisfied. I'm drawing this stuff and I'll share my sketches/doodles with you on this thread. Hope you like them.
Here's the first one; my "second" favorite clan mech, Shadow Cat. (No the first is not Timber Wolf, but Ebon Jaguar )

As I said; I'll post more stuff as I'm satisfied with them. See you around.

Btw If you want to download the full versions you can visit my deviant links for them, they may actually be massive sometimes. Here's for the Shadow cat:

The second one I have in my "finished" is this; Sean Lang requested this Centurion, and in IS mechs its my favorite as well;
Hope you like it.

Thanks!

Well yeah but I looked to a lot of examples while making these, and quite commonly it was depicted very lithe, so i stuck to the tradition; tho I may have overdid it a bit :D

Thanks Phil and everyone. I wanted it to look as much "Centurion" as possible, so is the result. I'll be posting a sketch for Vindicator tonight as well.

I like it. It has that Borderlands feel to it (the Scat anyways do IMO), not sure why.

My bias may be a bit higher than it should be, being a Capellan, but I think it looks amazing. :D

Altough it is slightly off to what I imagine the Vindy to look like, it is still really great and really the best of the three.

I love the vindicator sketch. I would buy that in a heartbeat if they put it in game but I hope you are joking with that...I don't even have words for what the heck...what is that monstrosity you labeled a Warhammer? Don't get me wrong, I like most everything except for whatever the hell that is sticking out of the center torso.

Well I explain the reason it is like that... and it is an unseen mech, you know? I can't just make all the proportions the same. Dunno, maybe could be a bit smaller, but I did this to create a new concept. I know it is not what you had familiarized and all, but what you feel familiar to is "unseen", just sayin. Well if you still say the same anyway, please say that in a bit non-insulting manner?
Anyway I wanted to change its very humanoid shape a less humanoid one to differ. That is all...

My sincere appologies for coming across as insulting, I didn't mean to be. Your artwork is unique and intriguing. I like everything about the Warhammer except the CT and Head. Again, I like the Vindicator and I would like to see more of it. A full color rendering of it would be great! B)

The Vindicator is great! Would you be able to produce some orthographic views of it? I'd love the chance to build a 3D mesh of it once I'm done with my Dervish.

Oh, I thout I had edited that insulting as rather agressive, but nvm that no offense taken thx for the compliments. I seem to forget that people love batletech too much and are a bit 'conservative' about it^^ about that I share your enthusiasm. In any case I have a few more designs that I want to at least conceptualize before making another colour work, so I can get them out of my mind and into photoshop before I forget. (my mind is always a mess)

After them I would be happy to colour the Vindicator, people seem to like it very much :(

By orthographic you mean a bit more boxed version of it so the proportions are more deliberate? Would something close an izometric angle do in that case?

Orthoraphic is a picture from all possible perpectives. The simplest one have one picture for front and one for side.

Here's an example:

Here's an example:
(snip)

^ What he said.

Square on from the front and the side without lines of vanishing (no size distortion due to things being further away) allows a 3D modeller to put the mesh exactly in the spots the artist intended it (or near to anyway - there's usually a few slight incongruencies)
