Both current game modes are basically pseudoTD as they end with enemy team destruction way more than in capping. Any future game mode that doesn't let you select four mechs to run for that match will have the same fate.

Its probably going to be easier to kill your opponents 8-12 mechs than to accomplish whatever scenario the game mode involves. A dropship mode for conquest or a future game mode would finally play out differently and be more about the objective less about team deathmatch.

From the sounds of it the original dropship mode will be replaced with the up coming lobby system so we should still be able to take multiple mechs into battle eventually .

-dropship/lobby mode (i read somewhere they "evolved" it to lobby)
-domination/ king of the hill/s
-npc's for support or secondary objectives.
-destructible bases

just to name some ideas.

the last time i played TDM was during the quake days and my interest for that game faded in moments.

Yeah the only way a 'king of the hill' type game mode would work with out dissolving into teamdeath match with the hill being a predesignated as a "Every one brawl here" spot would be to allow for player to respawn. Mechanical wise I see KotH working that for every mech one team out numbers the other by while on the hill they cap at that rate. Example; if one team has 5 mechs on the hill and the other team only has 4 the the team with 5 caps as if they had one mech on the hill, the move mechs you outnumber by the faster you cap. The game then becomes a matter of taking out enemy mechs as fast as possible so you can cap as much as tyou can before reinforcements arrive.

How about Raiding. One team having to get in, accomplish their objective, whatever that may be, and then get back to their drop zone. The opposing team trying to stop them or destroy them. The match would have a time limit. Winning conditions for the attacking team are completing the objective and retreating within the time limit. Winning conditions for the defending team would be elimination of the attacking team or running out the timer.

Reading comprehension... If everyone could pick four separate mechs to drop in(I'm not sure how this proposed lobby system is supposed to work). Basically long before either team had lost most of their mechs the mission goal would be accomplished(probably conquest).

It would probably be a longer game mode, but that makes it different than normal conquest or assault which can easily be essentially over after a two minute brawl.

I been think of something like that myself. Maybe one team has to find and scan a target like a building or something to gather intel then get back to their start point or another location to transmit the info. Any mech can make the scan but once it does it'll be tagged as such and will become target 1# for the opposing team.

I'm really looking forward to dropship mode/lobbies--whatever they call it now.

The only issues I can see with this would be when you run out of mechs to use. In that case it doesn't become a death match or king of the hill as much as it becomes a sort of 'last man standing' game type.

"DropShip" mode has evolved into Lobby a new gamemode for CW. We're not ready to discuss details yet.

Dunno how but it did. Guess only the forum dwellers wanted it. The silent majority didnt
