Ok so Sorry about the guy who is playing... and My Voice I lost my voice yesterday not much better today. Comp froze right before and I asked one of the Razer guys to put in the Pass. Dorky looking guy wanted to play so I got a chance to Film it. He didn't set his weapon groups so he alpha every shot.... O well this is all you get guys. Better hope its enough

I kind of wish I had someone with me to film me playing and try to explain what I was seeing and Feeling from the Mechs... again sorry!

Oh and thanks to Kelly Zmak for being totally cool about everything

Hey guys let me grab my statements from the other thread since it doesn't really reflect what i was posting in there but at least I can grab your attention here. For the record this all comes from 2 hours with the game on the first day of E3.

AceTimberwolf, so you got to play MWO. Did they make yo sign any NDA agreement? Can you answer some questions?

What class did you get to play?
If you played different classes what was the difference?
From the vids that we have you can obviously see that lasers are very accurate but what about AC/PPC/Gauss?

Thx dude

Me: No Didn't have to since its on the Public Floor. I chose a Dragon a Hunch and the Catapult. The Setup from the mechs to choose from I got to use a AC. One thing I felt from the AC is that it doesn't shoot where your pointing if its in your arm. its off to the side so unless ur close enough I wouldn't shoot it in tandem with other weapons. Dragon Felt underpowered but the Hunch and Catapult were great. Overall it was really fun definitely waiting to see the Finished Product. I did **** off one pilot with JJing on his head and kept him on the floor the whole time.

How easy is it to get into E3, or is it difficult?

Me:You gotta work in the Games industry or get invited by a company. I work in the Games industry and Have a Alumni Invite since I've been to the last 7 E3s

Russ did say to the people there that There isn't much you can do about the beta. Just luck of the draw. I was hoping E3 people would get Beta Keys but o well.

Glad to hear about the game, just makes me want a Beta key even more.
That's kind of sad about the Dragon, always seemed a descent Mech to me, but oh well.

Me:Yea I kno.But again thats why they are testing it. Hopefully the Final Dragon will be just as good as any of the other mechs. Also Those nasty Jenners.... Damn them. One guy had a Jenner with an XL Engine...Just --__-- They had a Hunch with 8 Med Lasers and a Small Laser went toe to Toe with a Atlas. It was pretty Awesome. First Match I played with Paul on the Opposite team and he destroyed me. Next Match same team and I didn't die lol.

Is Paul as horrible player as they say he is? Did he TK you?

Me:Nah he's not bad. Russ even asked if he was griefing people so early in the day. Alex is pretty good too.

To point out, it's sad that the first "real" info we get from the game at E3 comes from a fan /player base mate at the forums, instead of some "official" info from the devs.

Sad that the dragon is underperforming atm.

Let me ask you a question:
How well is doing the catapult with LRMs?
Seems like it does enough dmg to the targets and ammo last long enough to be significant in a game or you run out of ammo after doing 25%-50% of the total HP of a mech, feeling useless?
From the heavy mech preview (they released time ago) it seemed that it (the catapult) was burning down its ammo while not doing significant dmg to the huncbach it was aiming at.

Thanks for the info!

Me:Seems about right from the catapult. LRMs needs a bigger punch to them. I usually ended up wasting my LRMs and trying to finish with my 4 med lasers. If you get lucky and get some good hits on your target then yea you might be able to take it down but the Hunch can take a beating regarless. Like I stated I was going toe to toe with Alex's Atlas and Hunch was keeping its ground. I torso twisted away from my Critical left torso aimed with my arms and kept going at it. Obviously it still needs some tweaking but in the end Catapult is still a support mech. Its not like MW3 where some LRMs could finish you before you can close in and have some kind of fighting chance. Thinking about it now I probably should have lowered the Armour and added an extra ton of ammo so I didn't get the "where did my ammo go????!!!"

Welp... guess I'm not getting a Catapult for my founder's mech then...

ME: Well the Game's not done obviously. Catapult is a great mech. Also its not like all my LRMs hit. I could have done a better job in that regard. LRMs plus concentrated fire would make a Catapult indispensable. It really is all about team work. You definitely can't solo.

I wasn't trying to under value the Catapult. Its cool but as I mentioned later in the post I: don't use missile boats, Didn't use LRMs effectively, and it was the first time i was playing the game was still trying to figure stuff out.

By the Way just so you guys get a sense of what I know I played for about 2 hours until the Server Kicked us off lol(or maybe they just kicked me off lol.

I really can't wait for it to come out. Graphics are great even on those Razer Laptops which really tells you you can run the game on decent specs and have it perform admirably (I really dislike the Razer Laptop prefer a nice Sager=cheaper and twice as powerful). Overall it was a lot of Fun and it is heading in a great direction. I love the effects of lasers on the armour.

Nice to have some info on the game. Thank you.

As someone in the discussion already pointed out, it's a shame it has to be one of us and noone official.

Also, were there any people that never played a MW game before?

This is exciting news!

When you were playing against the Jenner with the XL Engine, did they say or did you notice an increased vulnerability for that 'Mechs side torsos because of the XL?

Thanks much for the feedback. I think maybe people don't understand yet that the goal is to NOT have a super mech. If the Catapult was all that then that's all we'd see running around. I think this game will be about balance. What you described Ace sound very similar to how a TT match would play out.

Yea there was. Bryan and Russ were gone for awhile and i was playing by myself for a bit(Paul said they were probably at a strip club. lol Russ laughed at that too). Some of the Comments were "What is this?" and "Is this like Call of Duty but Slower?" . I laughed at that one though it was kinda offensive... not sure why. Once Russ came back there were a few people there playing with me and he helped them set up their fire groups and explaining the game. A lot of people seemed interested or at least were intrigued by lasers and missiles going off on the screen. For the Most part most of the people there gave good responses. One of the guys said "I don't see a lot of kids playing this" Which might be true in the CoD era

Definitely Paper once we cornered him but DAMN! that speed was hard to hit. he was all over the place lasted awhile till one of us came from behind made him turn into a wall and we alpha'd. Definitely noticeable speed difference. I will have nightmares about the Jenner. Which also makes me wish that I had tried it out. ( I was in a Dragon with 2 med lasers AC5 and LRM 10 I believe) I could not get a hit with my AC5

No automatics in the game (auto aim, heal, cover,...) and no cookie-cutter. You can bet anything that my schoolmates will stay as far from this game as possible.

Thank you for the answer and don't feel bad about that "CoD, just slower" guy, he deserved that.

That is actually good news in my opinion. Not that the game is less likely to appeal to a younger player base at all, because I honestly think that it will in the end. But, the fact that the guy said it tells me that MWO isn't going to be a twitch game dominated by camping/sniping etc.

My 40 something year old reflexes may stand a chance in this more tactical game requiring more intelligent team tactics! Yay!

I feel we are going to have a lot of people just trying to brawl instead of playing their roles at the beginning. Though the People in the beta seemed pretty keen on what to do. And yea I'm sure the younger crowd will be in this too.

Thanks for posting!

Have you seen the MechLab? Have you tried any LosTech stuff or seen it used by other players - Pulse lasers, Gauss etc (I believe there was a Gauss Rifle readily available in the MechLab Devs Breakdown video, but it was never shown in combat)?

About those AutoCannons: why don't they shoot where you point them? Is it a bug, a projectile travel time or what?

Are there any playable mechs or maps we haven't seen yet in media?

I would have either laughed or introduced my face to my palm. I don't understand why people think this game will be like an average FPS when it has no similarities other than the point of view.

But yeah, thanks for the info OP.

I think that once MWO is established as a highly strategical game with a high skill cap (think competitive StarCraft and StarCraft 2) we'll see a HUGE influx. Why? Because the strategy will draw in the groups and teams. This makes me very excited!!

I'm also glad to hear the XL engine seems to make the side torso more vulnerable to criticals (I think that's what I read from your statement >.< )

I'm going to assume that with weapons like the AC and PPC you're going to have to lead your shots A LOT.

So yeah, projectile travel time.

Take a pistol in your hand and spread your arms. Then look at something (gun pointing forward) and position yourself in a perfect line with it. If you pull teh trigger, you won't hit. Do you understand now?

Aye, it seems reasonable. But I was intrigued by the statement that they only shoot wrong when located in arms (i.e. Huncback torso AC/20 is not the case?)

In short words, the convergence. Is there any indicator telling you that your hands have adjusted to the needed distance?

This sounds great.

I know there's been quite a number of videos about it but I'm going to ask anyways. How are the jump jets compared to the other MW games? Is there more control and such? I know this sounds really trivial but with terrain playing a big part in MW games, it would be interesting to know if there have been any changes to this mech aspect. Also, if you know, are mechs going to have the coolant feature?

Thanks

No coolants and the jetpacks are partly controllable. Not as much as in MW 2, but not only press and that'đ it as in MW 4 (at least that's what Garth said).
