Game with 3 party DRM I don't buy until thy are 3$ and by that time most of the 3party DRM are removed from the software.
Do I think MWO should be on Steam, "Hell yes" it would promote the game to million and give PGI a good way to Farm out the download.

By all means have a steam version but please have the option of a stand alone client.
I don't think anyone is suggesting that steam be required but that MWO be made available through steam to attract more players

Now, to be fair, I've also purchased a few VERY buggy games, but really it was my own fault for not researching them. Steam even makes that easier with reviews attached to each game. I have had a few rare problems with games and tried to get a refund to no avail, so perhaps that's a mark against them.
I also dislike that it constantly runs in the background, but that's more me being defiant of the intrusion since my system can handle it without problem.
Admittedly I don't understand the process, but I'm pretty sure Steam acts as a third party connector and vendor and doesn't step on a developer's shoes. The revenue loss is another argument. I haven't a clue what Steam would take as its cut. I doubt that it would be a "large portion", but it may be too much for MWO to endure. Then again... there are already a lot of FTP games on the service.
The claim that only unsuccessful or desperate games are on Steam is untrue. All kinds of successful games are available at all stages of their lifecycle from pre-ordering to the bargain bin, including many multi-platform titles and popular new releases. I believe the games that appear on there has more to do with licensing deals between Valve and the developer, not desperation on the part of a developer.
MechWarrior titles often have trouble receiving the attention and longevity they deserve, with mostly dedicated fans of the tabletop game, previous video games, or books making up the base. Steam is a good way to instantly get the game exposed to over four million gamers.
Then... and again, I'm not sure if this is even possible... but if MWO were to eventually make it to the Steam Workshop where users could keep adding battlemechs long after support is over... with THIS BA engine... so. much. happiness.
I dunno. Just thought I'd throw my vote in the "for" hat.

microsoft bought skype before Steam got the license to use Skype technology with their voice chat. Microsoft flight simulator is also on it. The benifit that steam gets is more people using steam, thus more people looking at other games.
