I broke down and purchased the Overlord package. I'm hoping that this can be an unofficial tracker of how the community will be responding with their wallets.

You need an "Other" or "Undecided" choice.

For myself, I am still on the fence. If all the content was available immediately, I would have already purchased it. However since I have to wait 3.5 months to get what I am buying.....I am just not sure.

3.5 months is a long time from now and who knows what I will be doing. Heck I might be totally burnt out on the game and want to take a 6 month break by then. Maybe I will be playing another game. Maybe I will have a girlfriend (although probably have just as much chance of getting hit by a meteor at the rate I am going hehe). Point is, 3.5 months is a Long, LONG time to wait for everything.

I'll put up an "other" option as soon as I sit back down in front of a PC. My iPad doesn't format the forum well and the edit options for the poll appear off screen.

For my part, I might take a break or reduce my play until CW comes out. At least after I master my Commandos.

Edit: Updated the poll.

I wanted the freaking Shadow Hawk so baaaad... and then I saw its hardpoints.

If it has a stupid head-missile and nothing on the left arm... at least put a shield there, like the centurion has or something. An energy hardpoint would be better.

Overall, of the 4 Pheonix mech only Battlemaster and possibly the Locust (why no ECM on that one?) seem compelling.

I wont do it till the 20-40$ offerings become good enough to warrant the purchase.

All I want is a Shadow Hawk.

voted no...steam sales are coming
80 bucks for the one mech i actually want is crazy steep

the locust also looks terribad to me

so basically my options are 20 bucks for locust special and the standard variants (sell for cbills?) and 4 slots..premium time is useless...got cbills coming out of my ears

but hey im a founder so i get a paltry 2.5% loyalty boost thingy

80 bucks will buy lots of good games on steam...not just a few battlemasters...i can wait

im sure they will make a hero mech w/ a loyalty boost i might actually want at some point...that is if im still playing

While I'm strongly opposed to telling people how to spend their money, the financial part of me is pained heavily by this poll.

I'm not buying it at all. I went Elite back in the Founders because I could pick up the mech I wanted.

With this pack I don't want the Locust, nor the TB. I'd like to get SH and Battlemaster, no way I'm paying 80$ to get these two only.

I hope they'll reason and introduce other tiers like:

30$ -> pick 1 mech among locust, sh, Battlemaster* Thunderbolt (nope no pick of BM to chose from), some PT from early buy
50$ -> pick 2 mechs, some PT, 1 faction medallion
70$ -> pick 3 mechs, some PT, 2 faction medallions

This way 80$ would still be convenient (get everything with only 10$ more, 2 more faction medallions), and to get the BM you should pay off 50$ which is reasonable, even if you pick BM and TB. This or no money from me.

*Misspelled, lower tier shall not allow you to go with the battlemaster

1) I wonder if Founder mechs will be put back in line with Hero and Phoenix mechs. They were advertised as mechs we will play when the game is ready, not mechs that will be used for testing ONLY (its still testing, and nobody plays those mechs now).
30% won't fix that much, but still it will be nice for those people who helped you start.

2) I wonder if Phoenix mechs will be replaced by new generation of Hero mechs just like the founders were, with 35% Cbill and 15% loyalty bonus (for example), like it was done with Founder mechs even BEFORE OBT was started (30% Cbill bonus hero mech was introduced few weeks before OBT).

>Nobody plays founders

Nobody plays Atlas D's, Jenner F's, and Catapult C1s? What game are you playing?

The 4G is the one I don't see much of, despite being one of my favorites of the bunch.

If you look from a business point of view you'll see that this is sound decision. If you look what class of mech if most played nowdays you'll notice that it is assault class. So if people want to get assault mech right away they will have to pay 80 bucks. Also make concept artwork most appealing of all mechs and people will buy it, there is a lot of psychology involved in this.

I am still undecided. I would maybe buy the 40$ package because I am only interested in the Shadow Hawk and the Locust (yeah, some people actually are) and with the goodies included (mechbays, medaillon, early bird premium time) I feel like I would get my money's worth; but with 3pv on the horizon I don't know if I will even still be playing this game by october, I might just transition over completely to Dota 2. It all depends on how 3pv will be implemented in the sense of whether there is actual balance effort vs 1pv involved ot not , because - frankly - I don't see much future in the 1pv only queue.
Unfortunately information on this will most likely still be unavailable by the time the early bird option runs out so I will probably have to pass in the end, there is not enough in the package for 40$ without the premium time. Not that a big of a deal in my case, I will still have my Locust in october and after that it's only a single month of waiting till the Shadow Hawk. Don't care about the bigger mechs.

From the business pov of course they are saying "hey do you want the assault because now the game is biased vs assaults? pay 80$ to get it".

It's a whole nostalgia initiative, appreciable, I like the idea we can get back some unseen/reseen whatever but yet I think they'd spill out some more money from people like me; I'm 95% sure they won't never listen and that the packs will stay the same. What bugs me most is the Locust, I'm not into lightmech piloting at all, so I don't want it nor its variants at all and I think the TB will be so huge that it will be on par with the AWS, even more looking at what they did with the QD.

Well there are always people who play something exotic (and yeah, Jenner F is not a founder mech <_<). But my point is, if you have money, Cicada X5, Firebrand, Misery and Heavy Metal is the way to go. Founder chassis are not only weaker, they even have a smaller bonus.

They were sold so that people would buy them for Closed Beta, and then it was made sure that people drop em and move unto Hero mechs.

The problem is that Phoenix package (while it looks good right now) will likely follow the same fate. I've donated alot of cash to Kickstarter projects and Star Citizen, but they have one thing in common: developers respect community and keep their word.

I would like to see MWO become like that, honest with the community.

To me it looks like Project Phoenix is a Community Warfare designed bundle. I would/will buy, it is a good deal, but I want to see what Community Warfare is going to be first.

If it looks bad, then there is no point to this bundle. But if it looks good, you can have my $80.

I think it should have been more in line with the founders packages, in that when you bought the different tears you A) got mc but no founder's mech (my choice), B ) got to pick 1 (any of the 4), and C) got all 4. This could have easily been done like something John MatriX82 said. The whole idea of "everyone wants assault so make them pay $80 for it" is horribly flawed by how much more they would make from getting the people who don't want to drop $80 for it but would be willing to drop maybe $50.

Edit: had to change option B out of the smiley it made

So, you'd be willing to pay $60 for one mech and some other token stuff, but you're not willing to pay $80 for -all- the mechs and some other token stuff?

I'm lost, folks.
