... are absolutely bad. I want the old ones back. Reason: now it sounds like speakers in a metall canister, and it's more hard to hear out of what the direction a sound (and the enemy fire) comes.

Agreed, cheapo tin-can sounds are now prevalent with all weapon fire sounding like it is coming from behind me... Is anybody else actually seeing an improvement with these sounds?

I am running a SB Recon 3D sounds card with Earforce Z6A amplified 5.1 headphones and the game sounds _terrible_ after today's patch.

Not indicating that I expect the game to magically support 5.1 when it isn't intended, I was just sharing my setup that previously sounded pretty good until today's patch.

What? I can't hear you. i fired my PPC or AC20 and it is SOOOO loud I can't tell what you are saying. (I do like the new sounds...not the VOLUME)

I guess, they used "Stereo base widening" (don't know the exact english words for the effects).

It uses phase shifted signals from the same and the other stereo channel to make the sound sounds like it comes from a wider speaker area. Disadvantage of this technique: Sounds got louder and it is harder to locate the direction of a sound.

Is it just me or doesn't the ac2\s sound like you are banging on a tin drum?? Also i think the damage dealt has changed to less. Can someone confirm this.

I do not enjoy the new sound of the PPCs. It sounds like they are redlining and becoming a bunch of static.

I loved the new PPC sound, much better than the older. Need to play more to hear the others, but I gotta sleep.

absolutely love them, especially AC2,20 and UAC 5,although PGI should consider a less "mechanical"but more natural reverb effect

Don't like new sound effects. Please just use the old sound effects. I prefer this:

AC5 sound is strange now, too much metalic, wich comes insupportable when u chain it lol
The previous sound (closer than a shootgun) was better

Same! The booming and echo are awesome - weapons finally sound like weapons fire, rather than studio produced parodies of battlefield noise piped directly through quadraphonic speakers in your mech.

I love it. And the ambient noise is fantastic - especially on river city night.

Sounds like I may be in the minority on this one... Unfortunately, it makes the game sound like a muddy mass of random noises and takes away any positional references for me.

I _really_ wish they would have focused on fixing broken things rather than spending any time "fixing" something that wasn't broken. :) Any chance I'll get a "use the old sound effects that don't make the game asstastic" checkbox in options?
