Just like the title says - MC is ridiculously expensive IMO. I refuse to purchase any more out of principal because it really is ludicrous.

Many moons ago when I played WoW I ponyed up my $10 a month because it was pretty reasonable. You got a good service and the game was fun and $10 a month was a fair price for a bit of distraction. For 10$ in MWO I can buy 2 mechbays, and paint the mechs. That's about it really. Maybe after I've spent close to $100 unlocking colours (read that sentence again and elt it sink in) then I'd be able to afford 4 mechbays and paint my mechs.

If PGI cut the price by about half then I might think about it. Heck I might even look at premium time (which is what I was always planning to do until I saw the ludicrous prices)

Now I totally understand that PGI needs to make money and that if people see the value they will pay for it etc. etc. BUT - they currently make no money from me - they sold me on their Foudners program - then spent all that money making MW:Tactics which cheesed me off quite a bit. I also purchased another 3000MC because I badly needed some more mechbays - and I did once convert some GXP because I couldn't bear the though of another 37 rounds in a SDR-5K to master it...

So they have made what, $45 off me. Which I figure is about fair - you pay $45 for a game these days.

But they won't get another cent from me unless they seriously re-evaltuate their pricing scheme. I'm no F2P marketting guru so maybe milking the whales is the way to make $$$ on a F2P model? But it just seems odd to me as I see a lot of green mechs running about, and I don't see all that many cockpit statues in game, nor many 'consumables'.

Anybody agree/disagree? Am I just a tight-arse?

Agreed, I believe a lot of people would pony up if MC prices dropped. Also, in the comments of almost every sale PGI posts, someone brings up "When is the next MC sale?".

I think an MC sale is long overdue.

Depends what you buy.

Buying mechs is stupidly expensive, but smaller things and premium time are fine.

They must be priced about right given the numbers of hero mechs running around.

You cant compare a microtransaction model with a subscription model. Many little transactions is the goal.

Personally, I think it would be sales-promotional if they give a small amount of MC (dunno... maybe 25 or 50) for the first victory of the day. This should be possible with UI 2.0.

Small amount of MC encourages players to save them for small purches as one time colours. But it also gives them a thing to achive and encourages them to speed things up and buy MC directly.

For what it's worth, Premium time is on sale right now... or it was the last time I checked.

You know what they say about a fool and their money... That's why Legendary Overlords like myself spend $200 for all the digital savings. :D

The only thing I've spent MC one is 'Mech bays, and few cockpit items, and premium time. I'd have to agree that the price for things are set a bit too high. It comes down to a value proposition with me. Can I afford to spend $30 on a 'mech? Sure. However, I feel there are more entertaining ways to spend it.

If I felt that I was getting more for my money, I would be more inclined to spend it. The sales do help , but I rarely see anything I can't do without. And ,honestly, I can usually just afford 'mechs with CBills.

Cheers.

I agree. A lot of F2P games have drastically lowered their prices of paid currency (for example BattleForge) and it payed off, obviously, it always pays off.

If you buy a year of premium, it is less than $US8/month.

With the Clan mechs needing lots of C-bills or MC, a nice investment.

Prices of colours and camo is what eats MC, not premium time or mech bays.

Exactly, while the mechs are too expensive for my taste I have no issue with the price since they can be purchased with CBills.

The MC exclusive stuff like mechbay slots, paint, cockpit items, premium time, etc are all priced fine for me so when I bought MC that's where it was spent. ;)

If the price was slashed by half, I'd probably buy some MC once a month.
Right now I've only bought some once in the whole year i've been playing.

Tbh I call that a win for both sides.

Premium time seems reasonably priced to me. Mechs are rather expensive, though, as are custom paint schemes. If you want a custom camo pattern and 3 colors that can run as high as 3850 MC, which is $17.74 at the $30 MC price level. That is... steep. Yet given the number of custom paint jobs I see on the battlefield I don't see them reducing prices any time soon.

It would cost you almost $850 (roughly) in items that can only be bought with MC if you wanted them. Is there that much of a game here for all that? A hand full of maps, and 2 game modes. Granted I play the hell out of it. However I know if everything was cheap, everyone would have it and you wouldnt feel special. But I also know people will $1 themselves to death, I mean look at itunes. I will buy a game for $60-80 in a min if I want it. And would probably drop $80 here if I could get everything I wanted. But the 20-30 they got so far seems good enought till some more content comes out and the game seems to have more of a point to it.

I have bought couple mech bays (colors with mc left over). I cant see spending money for premium time at all, not sure what the point of it is (not to offend). I swore I would never spend $ on a mech (due to cost seeming crazy), but did buy a Sarah (well worth it!!)

Not very obvious to me... I have never heard of BattleForge
