Uniform Code of MechWarrior Justice

I. General Provisions
MechWarriors may raise attention to any misconduct through Support for in-game,
For forums, you can open a Report on a post, message, or profile through the Report button.

II. Apprehension & Restraint
MechWarriors who have been consistent in their misconduct may be placed on a temporary moderation preview until their Court-Martial. During a Moderation Preview, their forum posts will not appear publicly unless approved by a moderator.

III. Kerensky's Ordinance
The only insults that are permitted for MechWarriors to refer to one another are 'Dezgra' & 'Surat'.

IV. Jurisdiction of the Com Guard
The moderators wish to keep the forums, game, and other official channels safe. Their activities are monitored by staff to ensure fairness and consistency. Their actions are carried out according to strictly defined protocols.
Please do not harass them for performing their duties.

Stay on topic: Stay on target.

VI. Circle of Equals
All grievances between MechWarriors should be handled respectfully in discussion or in battle.

VII. Moderator's Bar
Rules Lawyering or Backseat Moderation is not permitted: These rules are not exhaustive.
As a continuing development and an online game, we will encounter new and unlisted forms of abuse.
Regardless of wording or lack thereof: the spirit of the law is: Do not abuse the game, services, staff, or players.
The forum and game administration reserves the right to remove access for any MechWarrior at any time. Staff and moderators are not required to reply to any rude, vulgar, abrasive or aggressive messages.
Any concerns regarding Moderation must be directed to Support.

VIII. Sentences
Any MechWarrior found guilty of breaching the Code of Conduct may face one or more of the following:

Moving of Content; and/or
Redaction of Content; and/or
Soft-Removal of Content; and/or
Written Warning; and/or
Moderation Preview; and/or
Posting Abilities Disabled; and/or
Temporary Suspension; and/or
Permanent Banishment.

Selection of sanction is dependant on the severity of the infraction, context, recidivism, and other extenuating factors to be determined by Court-Martial.

IX. Composition of Courts-Martial
The First Circuit of ComStar includes:

Precentor Destined;
Precentor miSs;
Precentor Niko Snow.

All moderation sanctions are reviewed by one or more Precentors,
All suspensions, banishments and appeals are determined unanimously by the First Circuit.
With exception to cases where the abuse of conduct is obvious, a MechWarrior may be notified of their sanction either via Forum Private Message or through a Support Ticket E-mail.
Public discussion of any moderation actions is not permitted.

X. Punitive Articles
Discrimination / Hate
Any MechWarrior who-

Promotes racial/ethnic/national hatred; or
Uses recognized racial/ethnic/national slurs; or
Alludes to symbols or phrases of racial/ethnic/national hatred; or
Insultingly refers to any aspect of sexual preference pertaining to themselves or others; or
Insultingly refers to any aspect of gender pertaining to themselves or others; or
Negatively portrays major religions or religious figures;

Is guilty of Conduct unbecoming a MechWarrior and shall be moderated.

Team-Killing
Any MechWarrior who willfully or repeatedly-

Assaults team-mates in battle with intent to cause grievous ‘Mech harm; or
Destroys team-mates in battle;

Is guilty of Mechslaughter and shall be moderated.

Self-Destruction
Any MechWarrior who willfully or repeatedly-

Overheats their BattleMech to destruction; or
Is removed from battle by leaving the battlefield boundaries;

Is guilty of BattleMech Desertion and shall be moderated.

Non-Participation
Any MechWarrior who willfully or repeatedly-

Fails to engage the enemy or mission objectives; or
Disconnects their BattleMech during combat;

Is guilty of Absence without ‘Mech and shall be moderated.

Ghosting
Any MechWarrior who willfully or repeatedly-

Provides intelligence to the enemy, including location, loadout, or status of team-mates

Is guilty of Aiding the Enemy Team and shall be moderated.

Botting
Any MechWarrior who-

Automates their ‘Mech using scripted commands;

Is guilty of Fraudulent Dropship Enlistment and shall be moderated.

Hacking / Exploits
Any MechWarrior who-

Provides links or instructions for hacks, exploits, cheats, or malicious programs; or
Engages in the use of unauthorized hacks, scripts, or cheats; or
Repeatedly abuses any issue for unfair gain or to the detriment of other MechWarriors; or
Disrupts or threatens the integrity, operation, or security of any MechWarrior services; or
Attempts to fraud the MC, CB or XP systems;

Is guilty of Damage of ComStar Property and shall be moderated.

Real-Life Threats
Any MechWarrior who-

Refers to violence in any capacity that is not directly related to MechWarrior;

Is guilty of Cruelty towards a fellow MechWarrior and shall be moderated.

Publishing Real-Life Info
Any MechWarrior who-

Releases any real-life information about other MechWarriors;

Is guilty of Stalking of a fellow MechWarrior and shall be moderated.

Defamation / Harassment
Any MechWarrior who-

Insultingly refers to other individual or groups of MechWarriors; or
Engages in ongoing harassment of other individual or groups of MechWarriors;

Is guilty of Maltreatment of a fellow MechWarrior and shall be moderated.

Adult / Obscene / Vulgar / Extreme Content
Any MechWarrior who-

Posts, shares, or refers to extreme and/or violent real-life actions; or
Posts, shares, or refers to pornography and/or sex; or
Posts, shares, or refers to bodily functions; or

Is guilty of Scandalous Conduct of a MechWarrior and shall be moderated.

Spamming / Trolling
Any MechWarrior who-

Excessively communicates the same or similar phrases; or
Posts or transmits gibberish; or
Creates posts only to link to other posts; or
Creates threads for the sole purpose of causing unrest; or
Posts non-content (‘First’, ‘ibtl’, ‘tl;dr’, ‘yawn’, ‘l2p’, ‘bump’, ‘placeholder’ etc…); or
Posts in incorrect sub-forums; or
Duplicates posts;

Is guilty of Breach of Inner Sphere Peace and shall be moderated.

Impersonating Employees
Any MechWarrior who-

Masquerades as a staff member; or
Generates false official statements;

Is guilty of Impersonating a ComStar Officer and shall be moderated.

Unreleased Content
Any MechWarrior who-

Shows unreleased in-game equipment or areas that have been unlocked through hacking; or
Shows the results of hacking or tampering of MechWarrior Online PAK files; or
Discuss or display any data not available through normal gameplay or official public release;

Is guilty of Espionage against ComStar and shall be moderated.

Illegal Use
Any MechWarrior who-

Refers to abusing illegal drugs and narcotics; or
Attempts to phish personal information of MechWarriors; or
Provides links or instructions for infringing on a copyright; or
Refers to performing illegal activities;

Is guilty of Reckless Operation of a BattleMech / Hyperpulse Generator and shall be moderated.

Advertising
Any MechWarrior who-

Advertises of any non-beneficial, non-MechWarrior Online related businesses, organizations, or websites;

Is guilty of Sedition against ComStar and shall be moderated.

Account Trading
Any MechWarrior who-

Advertises their account for sale or trade; or
Provides their account to another user;

Is guilty of Fraudulent Separation of a MechWarrior and shall be moderated.

Inappropriate Profile
Any MechWarrior who-

Registers under an inappropriate name; or
Performs any other misconduct through profile settings;

Is guilty of Wearing Unauthorized Battle Insignia and shall be moderated.

Report Abuse
Any MechWarrior who-

Raises false alarms on the Report system; or
Misleads moderators through bearing false witness claims against another MechWarrior;

Is guilty of Obstructing ComStar Justice and shall be moderated.

Bypassing Sanction
Any MechWarrior who-

Generates a new account following suspension or banishment; or
Has another MechWarrior post on their behalf;

Is guilty of Resisting Com Guard Arrest and shall be moderated.

Discussing Moderation
Any MechWarrior who-

Creates posts to discuss disciplinary actions taken against themselves or another;

Is guilty of Contempt against ComStar and shall be moderated.

Name & Shame
Any MechWarrior who-

Posts discussing the misconduct of another MechWarrior;

Is guilty of Unlawful Detention of a MechWarrior and shall be moderated.

Petitions / Call Outs
Any MechWarrior who-

Generates petitions or biased Suggestion polls; or
Demands response or acknowledgement of their posts or concerns; or
Negatively calls-out one or more staff members; or
Posts intentions to disrupt support and/or services, or urges others to; or
Posts intentions to quit, or urges others to;

Is guilty of Rioting against ComStar and shall be moderated.

Alternate Forum Accounts
Any MechWarrior who-

Uses multiple accounts to engage in forum discussion;

Is guilty of Conspiracy against ComStar and shall be moderated.

XII. Appeals Tribunal
For appeals, complaints, concerns, or questions about Moderation, contact Support.

Support Tickets are handled during normal business hours in the Eastern North America Time Zone (EST/EDT) in the priority in which they were received. Please be patient while awaiting a response.

For Temporary Sanctions: If a MechWarrior's appeal is rejected, they may only return when that sanction has completed. Attempting to circumvent a temporary sanction will result in permanent banishment.

For Permanent Banishments: An exiled MechWarrior may make a request for amnesty at a later date. Amnesty may be granted, depending on a MechWarrior's individual history. Amnesty is conditional to the MechWarrior serving out their banishment: Attempting to circumvent a permanent banishment will negate any previous offer of amnesty.

Any staff decision on an infraction or appeal is final.
