As I was playing last night through my tequila-haze (my wife's fault). . .

It occurred to me I'm not sure what the protocall is for playing while drunk.

Are you supposed to inform people?

Everybody, or just your team?

Are you supposed to take command and give orders that seem good at the time?

Are you supposed to second guess others strategies?

Are you supposed to try to get your mech to walk the same way you do.

Any help would be appreciated.

I normally Tell my Team if I'm under the influence of a Mind altering substance. Due to the fact I don't Drink in my case it is normally Diphenhydramine (AKA Generic Benadryl). So if you see a Spider 5k With a Small Laser & AC10, Your not drunk because it is a Drugged up UrbanMech Pilot.

This is a very interesting thread. I would be inclined to say that your best bet would be to take to a light, I sort of agree with Wolf74 and the Spider 5K for this, and literally go berserk. This advice is based on historical fact that we know the Viking special forces, 'The Berserkers' did exactly this before going into battle and were not only feared, but often won the day for the rest of the crew.

On the sensible side, it may be a good idea to let the rest of your Lance know that you are going berserk before you do it; their is obviously going to be an increased risk of friendly fire.

I was going to say that the protocol for being drunk and piloting a mech was "being a Lyran" but I see you already have that covered. Glad to know that House Steiner is attracting the right people. :]

The FRR insures that all it's mech pilots blood alcohol content is in the approved range during neuro-helmet interface at mech start up. If the pilots blood alcohol is to low, the mech will not start.

1st Rule: You do not tell the team you're Drunk 'Meching.
2nd Rule: You DO NOT tell the team you're Drunk 'Meching.
3rd Rule: If someone says "stop" or goes bananas, the Drunk 'Meching is successful.
4th Rule: Only two guys to a 'mech.
5th Rule: One 'mech at a time.
6th Rule: No shirts, no shoes, no pants.
7th Rule: Drunken 'meching will go on as long as it has to.
8th Rule: If this is your first night Drunk 'Meching, you HAVE to go 'zerk.

Well, you guys are vikings. No matter what the lore says, I consider the FRR to be bros.

Here are some rules for drunk meching:

1) Tell everyone you're drunk, whether they care or not.

2) ????? - Take a shot or guzzle the bottle for a brief moment.

3) Go Commando, figuratively and literally.

4) Profit!

Screaming at your team for being worse than you are, when you are seeing double, and do 2 times as much damage as your teammates. Then passing out in TeamSpeak.

LOL ;)

Simple, you join the bakery channel. Baked or drunk, same thing.

the rules for drunk meching:

1.) You must actually be drunk, not those pretend drunks like some people try to do.

Yeah nothing is better than running in there "questionable" on whatever you choose and actually winning because your twitch and strategy are artificially enhanced. Like you take out 3 or 4 in a death rush or something.

But you usually die right after that.

Or before you can do anything, sometimes :(

I have recently ran a DrunkShip night for my local clan. The rule on TeamSpeak was if you are a bad drunk don't show up. If you go to far you will be removed instantly and dealt with the next day. The aim for the DrunkShip is to have 24 players Sync Dropping 12 mans against each other in stupid Mechs for fun and bragging rights. If we get high numbers we would have mass Sync Dropped to get into pug games against each other. The first DrunkShip only reached 24 pilots so it was fairly contained. The next one should attract far more members.

As for telling your team... Yeah its only polite, but you should also follow any orders because your judgment is very much impaired. This is a must when your in a drunken lance.

EDIT, the clan I am in is a Mature Gamer's only group that caters only for players who are already legal age for drinking. And there is a big disclaimer for the event night that we are not encouraging drinking but pilots must understand that many in the channel will be drinking and more boisterous than usual. Under normal circumstances there is a no drinking rule for the groups communications hub.

I always thought MWO was a drinking game.

See a red triangle: take a drink
LRM /SSRM Lock achieved: take a drink
fire lasers /acs/ missiles; take a drink
Cap a base: take a drink
Hit a 170kmh light with a KaliYama BigBore (AC 20): take 2 drinks
Component destruction: take 1 drink /component
Kill someone: Take 2 drinks
Kill someone with a headshot: Finish the glass, refill

And now you mean to tell me it`S not supposed to be played that way? :P

Never, ever hit the Ready button - you are pouring a drink, opening a drink, drinking, or removing the fallen soldiers. In any event, you are not ever really "Ready".

Why would you ever tell anybody that you've been drinking, unless you're new to the scene and trying to look "cool"?
Just enjoy your drink(s) and your bowl(s) and pilot your Mech.

If you're playing MWO drunk, just don't say anything. Everytime someone talks about how drunk/stoned/whatever he is in the chat, I always imagine a 16 year old who is trying to look cool.

Aboslutely this. Just enjoy it silently and have fun (no matter how bad or uncoordinated).
