I actually ran into one of these once in a game. There was that long, terrible pause when I looked at his weapon loadout and didn't actually believe what I was seeing. After that, I scurried back behind a rock until I had some reinforcements. Had he been alone, he could have been dealt with, but he had an escort keeping an eye on things as he sniped everything.

Meh ... back in the day 732 HGL used to have 3PPC+Gauss i.e. same 45 pinpoint alpha damage on fully armored assault. And we didn't run from them. Quad MG lagSpider will eat your Gaussmule for dinner. Video is nice, build - not so much.

No technically he ran from the escorts.

And was that supposed to be a Jean Claude Van Damme impression in that video? I half expected to see the Cataphract do the splits at the end in a victory celebration...

the build is not new. it can be tweaked to carry more armor and its fun to play. but you need a team for that.

but the video its pretty funny :)

I don't know if that was his exact build, but anything with 3 Gauss rifles - and another Heavy mech standing next to him as a bodyguard - I'm not taking on alone.

I run a Trip Gauss Illya aswell, but it actually has decent armor. only 50 KPH with an XL 190 though. 4 tons of ammo gives you 13 shots total, so pick your targets carefully.

Mine had nearly max torso armour, but only 40 shots.

They are good fun.

I recently bought the Ilya and decided to run this version for a while before I bought double heat sinks. It ended up with 11 wins 1 loss 18 kills and 9 deaths. It surprised me how effective it was.

edit: All solo drops.

Yeah - same here. I bumped into one of these last weekend. Was on teamspeak and one of my teammates warned that someone was running a hack (he was in a fully-armored Orion and got one-shotted by "a gauss rifle"). Then I, in a Stalker, got taken down to critical in a side torso from full strength in "one shot."

Like my teammate, I figured someone was running a hack, so I kept my head down, we rolled the flank, then I saw this build, and it all made sense. Yeah, it's made out of paper, but that's a hell of a punch.

The ultimate in glass cannons?

Ran into one of these the other day. He killed four of my team before I one shotted him from behind.
