I do have a few mechs that are waiting for more money to get an XL, like my new Firestarters, but so far I am saving up for them and have not yet run my FS.

If you usually leave mechs empty than when an engine goes "missing" all you have to do is rapidly click through all your mechs until you find one with a speed greater than zero.

And then you check and find that it's not the right engine. Close that window, start clicking through again; rinse and repeat. That takes a long damn time when you have 50+ 'Mechs.

(currently 24 of my 34 Mechs are mothballed) - no equipment no modules...
So to find a specific module i have to search in less than 10 Mechs -

- I only use a short list of engines on all my mech : STD250/XL255, STD275/XL280, STD/XL 300, STD/XL 325, etc.
- whenever I'm not playing a mech, I unequipped its engine.
- when I found the good build for a mech, i rename it accordingly : FS9-A XL280, etc. Like this I know which engine I need to equip if I want to play this mech.

close your eyes move your pointer about rapidly, while counting to 20 then L/clicking is as good as any others I could suggest.
As inventory is useless as it only tells you whats not being used

You think that's bad I have 126.
As a vet of overkill, I can only suggest once an engine is in another mech you pretend you don't have it and grind another for the mech you want it for, yes I did this, I may not have 200 million c-bills in the bank, but I have pixel real estate the size of the Asian continent

This is the only sensible Idea.
It's possibly the only sensible idea on these forums for anything

I have a notebook here (papermade, not a laptop^^). i wrote everything down which is important for me (Engines, modules, fluffitems). Did it since my mechcount topped 20.

I didn't realize mech renaming was part of this version of UI2.0. I'll be doing this for most mechs now.

It is one of the features that finally made it in. Only you lost the previous feature of knowing what is equipped on your mech.
UI2.0, yeah !
