I wanted to try to put an 300 XL on my Cicada. I have about 35 mechs of all sizes. I think I have a 300 XL, but I have no clue what mech it might be on. Is there a way for me to find out if I have this engine equipped on a mech without having to go to the mech details for each and every mech, one by one?

Nope. I have made it a habit to un-equip engines and modules whenever I leave a mech.....

Buy a new one. I can't be bothered to look for modules or engines in the new UI. Either I have enough cbills to get another engine for the mech or play another mech.

No more mini games for me.

Mech details on everyone basically. I tend to keep XL engins unplugged at all times or in my hero mechs untill I decide to drop in one.

I don't have mechs that are missing an engine. I think of the build I want and then get it.

I do have a few mechs that are waiting for more money to get an XL, like my new Firestarters, but so far I am saving up for them and have not yet run my FS.

I never leave engines in my mechs when not in use to avoid this issue. If you have to find a specific engine then the mech details button is the fastest way to do it. ;)

If you usually leave mechs empty than when an engine goes "missing" all you have to do is rapidly click through all your mechs until you find one with a speed greater than zero.

And then you check and find that it's not the right engine. Close that window, start clicking through again; rinse and repeat. That takes a long damn time when you have 50+ 'Mechs.

I always mothball Mechs i don't think i will use in the next time
(currently 24 of my 34 Mechs are mothballed) - no equipment no modules...
So to find a specific module i have to search in less than 10 Mechs -

I've started to rename my mechs based on what they carry. Thus the name of my 733C is something like "S290 2UAC 2PPC", and you see it in the mech list. Boring, but sometimes handy.

Well you have the mechspec tab, but i just keep all unused mechs without engines so that when im searching for one i just look at the speed to see if it got engine in it. Ah it have speed above 0, gimmie your engine!

I tend to do the same things and i save a lot of cbills thanks to that :
  • I only use a short list of engines on all my mech : STD250/XL255, STD275/XL280, STD/XL 300, STD/XL 325, etc.
  • whenever I'm not playing a mech, I unequipped its engine.
  • when I found the good build for a mech, i rename it accordingly : FS9-A XL280, etc. Like this I know which engine I need to equip if I want to play this mech.

close your eyes move your pointer about rapidly, while counting to 20 then L/clicking is as good as any others I could suggest.

As inventory is useless as it only tells you whats not being used

You think that's bad I have 126.

As a vet of overkill, I can only suggest once an engine is in another mech you pretend you don't have it and grind another for the mech you want it for, yes I did this, I may not have 200 million c-bills in the bank, but I have pixel real estate the size of the Asian continent

This is the only sensible Idea.

It's possibly the only sensible idea on these forums for anything :D

I do it very oldschool
I have a notebook here (papermade, not a laptop^^). i wrote everything down which is important for me (Engines, modules, fluffitems). Did it since my mechcount topped 20.

This concept of naming your mech with the engine in the name, isn't it amazing that UI2.0 leaves this as the best option!

I didn't realize mech renaming was part of this version of UI2.0. I'll be doing this for most mechs now.

It is one of the features that finally made it in. Only you lost the previous feature of knowing what is equipped on your mech.

UI2.0, yeah !

Be careful though because the name length is not very high : 10-12 I think.
