This matchmaker is still acting wonky. Been mostly playing my Hunchback 4P.
Started at 21 Wins 16 Losses 3 days before July 3rd patch.
As of now, 37 Wins 57 Losses

Something is not right at all here. In the measured period 16 wins and 41 losses. About 2/3 of the time the losses have been curb stomps (team getting 0 to 3 kills).

What is this matchmaker doing??????

Ok it starts 12v12
50% chance one team suffers one loss
Next is 12v11
Now better chance for team with 12 remaining players to score a kill
Next probably is 12v10
Guess who has better chance now and how it goes on?

Think and stop blaming the MM for something you do not understand.

I don't know what to tell you. I've had the closest, most evenly matched games ever since the patch.

I haven't have one match since then worse than on 12-2 match, which sounds dramatic but given how MWO works and how a couple early lucky kills can result in a steamroll, that's pretty impressive.

Overall, keep in mind that the removal of a lot of groups from the solo queue has really changed the dynamics of the solo queue. I absolutely did notice than in each of my weight classes (each with noticably different Elo bands) matches after the patch play out significantly differently than they did before.

Working as intended.

3/3/3/3 is merely a guideline...not written in stone.

Elo (Extremely laughable outcome) is working EXACTLY as intended. Every team is SUPPOSED to have 8 brand new mouthbreathers stumbling around fully zoomed in and shooting their teammates. The other 4 are supposed to carry them against the premades.

I've had a whole string of matches where I had 2-4 trial mechs on my team and at the end of match clearly showing real newbies were driving them. At the same time my opponents had their own mechs with plenty of TW and heavier mechs and without a single trial mech. Yeah matchmaker is truly still a mess.

Umm.... there are really no premades left in the solo queue, they get grabbed up for the group queue to fill teams.... might want to check your facts before you blame the boogeyman

Quite frankly, the MM seems to be working quite well for me, in both the solo and the group queue.

The solo queue is basically random derping, so if you're good you can carry a team pretty well.

The group queue seems reasonably free of derps, so the matches are often better.

Funny thing is, if I use other mechs the win-loss ratios are about 1:1 +/-0.1 which is what I would expect. But for whatever reason, when I take the Hunchback-4P I end up on a team that is practically steam rolled most of the time....

After the patch yesterday I played about 20 matches in either a group of two or three players. My first ten matches it was just two of us and we had two 10-12 man teams against us and we got killed in under a minute. The other eight games were somewhat balanced, but nothing like the two aforementioned stomps. After the third guy joined we had one 12 man against us in the last 10 games. Funny enough when I saw the 12 man on the other team I said lets just run through the middle of Forest Colony and die with honor. We did quite well, only losing 12-8.

I think the matchmaker is working as it is currently supposed to, which is great for those that play in large groups. It is the smaller groups that get tossed in to make up the holes on teams that seem to be either lucky (if you win) or unlucky (if you get stomped). What I really find absurd is the elitist attitude of some of the members of the 12 man teams that think the game is ONLY meant to play as a pre-made team of 12 and if you don't like it don't play. If that was the case I am sure PGI wouldn't mind losing 80% of their casual players, who also like to spend some money, that play to get their version of enjoyment out of the game. One of the guys I play with is simply not a good player, but we have one hell of a laugh when he gets a good kill. To me that is fun and keeps me playing and spending cash. 12 man stompfest, although infrequent, not fun. In my opinion the MM could still use a little tweak if it is even possible.

This just in: MM cannot control engagement outcomes only set the parameters in which the participants engage.

Or in other words... the MM can't ensure terms of outcome.

It's called "chaos theory".. might want to look it up. :(

As a 100% solo drop pilot the new MM system has been wonderful. The main difference I've noticed is the tonnage is much more even and 1 ****** assault pilot doing <200 damage has a much bigger impact on the entire match than before. The same goes for the light pilots who don't get in the mix harassing the enemy while the big boys go toe to toe.

Another outcome of the new MM system is that battles are more fluid (thankfully) because there are fewer mechs traveling <60kph.

I mainly play flanking brawler (VTR-9S/JR7-D) and it's nice to drop in a solo queue match and have "pugs" back me up on a flanking maneuver far more often than pre-MM patch.

Hopefully more and more people realize that the reason 1 lance drops further away from the other 2 lances is to perform said flanking maneuver while the other 8 "hold the line".

VICTOR LEADS THE WAY!

I expect to win about 50% +/-10% of the time aka 10 +/-1 Wins, 10 +/-1 Losses . When it gets to the point when using a mech you can now expect just to lose match after match - what is the point of using that mech?

It's the nature of the game itself to lead to stomps. Keep that in mind.

Poor Hunchbacks. No real reason to use them. Other mechs took their jobs!

Wow. You really believe that, don't you. Ok, cool, it's not worth arguing with you about. When you see four Steiners in D-DCs in the same lance....it's just a coincidence. Even when they tell you it's a premade.

From now on, I'll tell them they're full of PGI and there are no premades in the public queue anymore...Merrick said so. LOL!

Chaos Theory...when a drooling mouthbreather stands still and zooms in, it effects the weather patterns of Terra Therma and guarantees a loss for your team.

Yep, I get it.

I would LOVE to see a distribution of scores across all matches provided from PGI. It would put this to bed, or at least shed some light.

I think the proportion of good matches I've seen has gone up, in my experience. Separate that from my playing, which has been mired in mediocrity at best. :)

Right forum, wrong question. what you should be asking is what is your team doing.

Had a bunch of good post patch games, also had a run of losses. the overall team tended to put up poor performance numbers in those lost matches.

Pugged 12 rounds last night and was only on the receiving end of one 12-0 stomp, rest of time was 6-12 and almost even victories and losses. Most amazing thing was much greater variety in 'Mech weights and tactics too. Ignoring that my Spider is now totally worthless on Alpine, nothing but upside from this patch.
