Thought it might be fun to see how many years experience we have on the boards.
For the record, I started playing Battletech in 1986. So I'm at the 25 year mark. God I feel old. :)
How bout you guys?

Introduced to BattleTech when I was about 10 through my uncle, he taught my cousin and I to play, usually giving us light 'Mechs as cannon fodder so we could feel included in his game nights. I was about in sixth grade when I started to get really into it, reading all of the novels and such, and playing MechWarrior on my 386. In Freshman year I got the internet and found out about MPBT and got into it pretty hard, it was pay to play in a literal sense and I ended up getting banned from my mom after I had some crazy $800 bill or something like that in one month until Gamestorm came out and I was able to talk my dad into getting me an account there. Played the tabletop game with friends in High School as well as through the AOL Battletech chatroom. After high school I didn't really have people to play with and though I still followed the novels and sourcebooks I didn't get to play any of the board game for a couple of years until I taught some guys who were familiar with MechWarrior in my platoon how to play on megamek when we were in Iraq. Since returning home from Iraq, haven't really played much BattleTech related anything, me and my buddy were working a security job and I busted out my BattleTech cards from 8th grade and we'd play it, and I got MW2 to work in dosbox, but other than that its been a while since I've gotten my fix of BattleTech. So all in all to answer the original question, I've been involved in the BT universe for about 18 years now.

I was playing with giant robots from maybe 1994 (anyone remember Earthsiege?) and my first experience with Battletech was the cartoon a year or so later. 16 years.

roughly 25 years.

Started with Aerotech in 1986.

I never really stopped playing. And I have always been in House Kurita. I used to rock the DCMS patch on my ski jacket all through high school.

I started in 1986 too, when a good high school friend of mine invited me and some other friends over to his house to try out a new game. After he handed me a Mech sheet for an old school Shadow Hawk, I never looked back.

Wow, gotta admit I'm a little surprised that the 21+ category has the most votes. Myself I just hit 21 years this past summer. Got started playing from a guy I met in summer school typing class. He played with his older brother and a bunch of his friends.
