I'm currently using the Hat left and right to switch groups but it doesn't work as well as assigning a button to cycle them. You can accidently move 2 places instead of one and the Hat cycles through all groups not just the active ones. Keep in mind, when using a JS you want to use the keyboard as little as possible this way you don't have to move your eyes to the keyboard, it's much quicker and easier to have everything on the JS.

This is still a need option, as well as a more robust weapon grouping system.

Any word on a more robust weapon group system? I dont V-Log view for personal reasons.

A "Weapon Group Cycle Programm" would be a good thing too, like you have 4 LLas in one group: first shot are the 2 in your left torso, second shot are the 2 in the right, then repeat.

The older Mechwarriors had advanced fire control groups much like that. Grouped weapons could be assigned a bin number of one to six. Weapons sharing a bin number fired simultaneously, allowing for some very interesting and helpful fire patterns.

My JS has many buttons that I can assign.

@ Warblood - You setup 1 to 6 or however many groups you want. I can then assign 1 button on my JS that will cycle through my weapons groups. I understand what you're saying but it's fast to change to your next weapons group when you have the ability to assign one to your JS. I've never used more then 3 groups so having this ability makes a big difference and will help us JS players close the gap on the mouse players.

Warblood did give you a perfect solution, if you use less than 6 but also less than 4 (1, 2 or 3) groups, just repeat the groups again

ml sl gauss ml sl gauss
ml ac20 ml ac20 ml ac20

same effect

While not a perfect solution, it is sometimes a usable workaround.

I'm not a joystick player*, but I also want this feature. Having multiple buttons for multiple groups of the same weapon type is kinda cumbersome - I wish I could just highlight a couple groups and have one button alternate the selected groups.

*I use a trackpoint, though, so I sorta count? =P

I guess I don't really understand why you would want this?
Am I getting this right? You want to be able to, say, fire with your stick's trigger, then hit a button to switch to weapon group 2, press trigger to fire that one too, hit a button to switch to group three, press trigger to fire, and repeat?

If that's the case, how is it not better to just have a single button for each group? Like, Trigger for group 1, Thumb Button 1 for Group 2, Thumb Button 2 for Group 3.

If my assumptions here are right, your way would require 6 button presses to accomplish what can be done in 3. I just don't see the point. Unless I'm missing something?

Ok. Well, that's a pointless statement because Oranges are no better or worse than Apples.

Having to hit 6 buttons to do what can be done using 3 buttons is, blatantly, worse. It takes longer, and there's a lot more margin for error.

So, again. Why?

I'm not trying to say that they shouldn't put this feature in the game. I really don't care. I'm just curious - what is the point?

Not quite. The feature we're talking about is exactly like chainfire, only for groups. You don't have to press a button to select the next group, it does it automatically. So you only have to press button 'A' to alternate between two groups of lasers or whathaveyou without having to rapidly fire them individually.

Gotcha - Chain Fire for weapon groups. Title of the OP threw me off. Make a lot more sense now.

What I'm talking about has been in every Mech Video game except this one. You assign button #3 on your joystick to cycle next weapons group option which you assign in MSOW configuration just like assigning JS button #1 to fire weapons. You create however many weapons groups as you like, I like to use 2 or 3 groups. Since I assigned my JS button #3 to "select next weapons group" all I need to do is click button #3 and now my 2nd weapons group is highlighted, if I press my JS button #3 again my 3rd weapons group is highlighted and if I press my #3 button again it takes me back to my #1 weapons group which is highlighted by default.

Ok - see, that's what I thought you meant, but I still don't see why you would ever choose to do that instead of just having JSbutton 1 fire Group 1, JSbutton 2 fire group 2, and JSbutton 3 fire group three. Why make more work for yourself by changing weapons groups in between your shots when you don't have to? I just don't get it.

Do you have so few buttons on your JS that you can only devote 2 to weapons?
