The older Mechwarriors had advanced fire control groups much like that. Grouped weapons could be assigned a bin number of one to six. Weapons sharing a bin number fired simultaneously, allowing for some very interesting and helpful fire patterns.

@ Warblood - You setup 1 to 6 or however many groups you want. I can then assign 1 button on my JS that will cycle through my weapons groups. I understand what you're saying but it's fast to change to your next weapons group when you have the ability to assign one to your JS. I've never used more then 3 groups so having this ability makes a big difference and will help us JS players close the gap on the mouse players.
Warblood did give you a perfect solution, if you use less than 6 but also less than 4 (1, 2 or 3) groups, just repeat the groups again
ml sl gauss ml sl gauss
ml ac20 ml ac20 ml ac20
same effect

While not a perfect solution, it is sometimes a usable workaround.

Am I getting this right? You want to be able to, say, fire with your stick's trigger, then hit a button to switch to weapon group 2, press trigger to fire that one too, hit a button to switch to group three, press trigger to fire, and repeat?
If that's the case, how is it not better to just have a single button for each group? Like, Trigger for group 1, Thumb Button 1 for Group 2, Thumb Button 2 for Group 3.
If my assumptions here are right, your way would require 6 button presses to accomplish what can be done in 3. I just don't see the point. Unless I'm missing something?

Ok. Well, that's a pointless statement because Oranges are no better or worse than Apples.
Having to hit 6 buttons to do what can be done using 3 buttons is, blatantly, worse. It takes longer, and there's a lot more margin for error.
So, again. Why?
I'm not trying to say that they shouldn't put this feature in the game. I really don't care. I'm just curious - what is the point?

Gotcha - Chain Fire for weapon groups. Title of the OP threw me off. Make a lot more sense now.

Ok - see, that's what I thought you meant, but I still don't see why you would ever choose to do that instead of just having JSbutton 1 fire Group 1, JSbutton 2 fire group 2, and JSbutton 3 fire group three. Why make more work for yourself by changing weapons groups in between your shots when you don't have to? I just don't get it.
Do you have so few buttons on your JS that you can only devote 2 to weapons?
