so a friend of mine showed me this match recap, the timer had ran out, the enemy team had less mechs alive, and the base was not captured, however, the enemy team won. upon looking at the enemy team, i notice there's a PGI dev. i also notice in every match i've played, match scores do not show.

you got some explaining to do!

Maybe he was testing the end of round and score screens and needed to be on the winning side.

That... is not a good thing to be seeing.
The fact that this happened does not exactly fill me with confidence.

as far as i'm aware, that has never been a factor for victory. it's all or nothing

Afaik, in Asaault a basecap ends in a victory no matter the number of mechs left.

there was no base cape though, it would have said BASE CAPTURED. you can clearly see the timer ran out

Well, here are some facts.

First of all, the number of kills in both teams doesn't match with the number of dead mechs.

That means that 4 people from the red team weren't killed by players,
and 1 man from the blue team died that way as well.
Most often this is a result of base turrets landing a kill shot.

Second, "no score" is a game client corruption related issue.

Third, on time-out, most kills win.

Red team in this screenshot has 7 kills, blue - 6, so red team wins.

Edit: spelling.

I've been in matches with PGI before and have never seen this issue. Frankly, when they are on Red Team, they usually lose (I've personally killed them too, including named greats like Karl Berg and Brian Buckton). :)

I'd say it may be a programming glitch rather than a dev power abuse.

Has some logic.
But wait a moment, so when I am close to die, I better sacrifice myself to an opponent turret to prevent the opps to score a kill? That seems to be like an abusive feature.

Well, I've seen some people doing it to prevent me from killing them, so yeah, it's possible.
But is it a cowardly act as well.

Next time I see someone doing it I will type something to gloat in all chat
and bathe in Lulz, seems a fair trade to me.

theres 4 ppl alive on the losing team and theres 2 on the winning team, in assault it places the winning team with the most ppl left alive to win.

might be a bug which the dev found out 1st hand since the new patch

What was the in-game score before the EOR?

According to the screenshot, it looks like it's 7 kills vs 6 kills, therefore your team lost that game.

No, it doesn't. The win condition is: "At time-out, the team with the most kills wins," not the team with the most people left alive. Team killing and suicides don't count as kills for the other team.
