New video from Machinima
http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=Ma1Fj3bOfDg#

Some Highlights
  • Footage of the Atlas AT7-K firing medium pulse lasers and gauss rifle (0:52-1:03)
  • A Jenner JR7-D with 2 ER PPCs (0:53) :(
  • A Jenner getting a leg blown off and not dying … yet. (0:54)
  • An Atlas with a side torso blown out, but the corresponding arm still functional? (1:28)
  • The Catapult CPLT-K2 with lots of medium lasers and machine guns (1:52)
  • The Catapult firing its MGs (1:54-1:56)
  • A Hunchback HBK-4G with a customized weapons loadout (2:02)
  • Some interesting footage, either 3rd person, or with the HUD removed. Shiny. (2:18-2:24)
  • A Jenner JR7-D with small pulse lasers making a mad death dealing dash :D (2:47-2:56)
  • The Jenner exceeds 137 mph a few times (2:54) (the stock Jenner tops out at 119 mph)
You can, faintly, hear machine guns being fired at 1:53, 2:49 and 2:53. The last is clearest imo

I was not impressed with the Gauss Rifle animation or sound effect. Didn't hate it, just didn't love it either.

I stand corrected. You can see the MGs fire from 1:54-1:56, but I couldn't make out the sound effect or how effective they were.

:( Man, you rule thanks for posting link!! Have a bit better insight to the game mechanics now and realism. I loved the previous video as well of the Snow covered map..the cockpits are very well modeled and realistic on the mechs.

I loved that snow video too ...especially as you see battlemech 7 the commando ... in beta!

So I'm hoping that meant the centurion is already in too.

Yeah, I liked it too, but please don't discuss it in this thread. It was almost certainly a breach of NDA

also just noticed from watching that vid again, the first Jenner is mounting 2 ER PPC's! that's some nasty firepower for something that mobile :(

that jenner footage around 2.45 sure looks herky jerky. I sincerely hope HOPe that the gameplay really doesnt wind up looking like that for the light assets. While everything looks good , except the glowstick tracers embedded in all the weapons fire.... It would be a major disappointment if the mech combat is not as smooth as mw4. Ya know, the title thats over a decade old.
Seriously, there is nothing worse for immersion killing, Other than lag shooting.

The Gauss rifle looks and sounds like an energy weapon, I hope it’s just in the development stages. It needs more bang.

I agree it needs changing. Still needs to keep some energy weapon sound for the energy running through the magnetics. The boom should definitely be different from the autocannons. Perhaps something like at 0:21 in this video of an actual rail gun: http://www.military..../1478812663001/

I don't mind the appearance of it though as we technically shouldn't be able to see it at all.

Actually, a gauss rifle would be almost silent. It builds up a magnetic charge that throws the round. You might hear capacitors charging up and then the "whoosh" of the round. I suppose there would be a sonic boom as it broke the sound barrier, but you wouldn't hear that until after the round was fired and how loud it was would depend on the size of the projectile.

IIRC, the projectile is a 125 Kg rod of nickle-steel or some similar alloy

So a 275 lbs areodynamic round. Hmmm... I wonder what kind of a shockwave that would produce?

This forum needs more physics.
