Remember in MW4 when clans would remove all armor from their legs and insist you don't shoot at their legs or be thrown off the server? I used to run a long range sniper and occasionally hit a leg and one shot would take it out - banned! Personally I am going for CT but if you have no leg armor, you're gonna be screwed.

If people want to run around with extra lasers and no leg armor, then they shouldn't complain about consequences.

I'll be going for legs and arms for sure. Sorry to all those who want to stand there alpha striking each other in the torso.

They can't kick you from the servers because there will be only one server.

And if your leg gets blown off you can still hobble like a cripple till someone comes along to pick you off.

From the looks of it, hitting one leg won't kill a mech, you'll have to take both out. With that said, most people won't bother with min maxing their armor so it'll be more difficult to leg then core.

This is a great question for the Devs. I'd be curious to hear what we can expect. I think taking out a leg shouldn't slow you down too much however both should keep you from moving hardly at all. Basically stationary at that point.

I think complete destruction should be when your core is breached.

Either that or you fall completely over when you lose a single leg....

from the leaked footage it seems that one or both of the following happens

1) you get knocked down then your mech awkwardly gets back up
2) there is extreme hobbling

these were the movement inhibitors seen

there wasn't footage of a mech standing there one legged, so maybe that's out. 1 armed yes, but not 1 legged.

Ah I remember the 'legging' issues sort of speak in MW4. I found it a valid tactic since the other player opted for heavier payloads. And to be honest in capture the flag mode it was quite normal to 'leg' people certainly if you were in a smaller unit and with less firepower.

Even so it will be interesting to see where this will head to during and after the release

Well, the leaked footage showed that legging was possible. 1 leg down will severely cripple movement, however the Mech can continue fighting. Also, it showed that legging will be rewarded, not just 'legging', but rather blowing off specific components (arms, legs, racks?) may net players extra points.

From what I recall the people that sacrificed Leg armor for more weapon/heatsink capacity where the same people that complained about getting legged In matches.

Lol - Always take out the arms of Novacat! But they are probably clan tech and won't be around for a while. CT!!!

Cool - pick them apart for more points.

O yeah - in CTF legging was essential. I will miss CTF as well as Dodgeball, my fav.

In certain footage that I may or may not have seen, it was perhaps a possibility to both damage individual leg components AND force mechs to fall down/trip. This is highly unverified and no attempt should be made to Google leaked footage of MWO.

#1. If your dumb enough to remove armor from a part of your body that, if blown apart prevents you from either reenforcing your teammates or conducting a tacticle withdrawl then your simply an *****.

#2. You want to leg or arm shot me.. your going to have to work for it. I don't go down without a fight and i'm not going to help you in the process by weakening a certain area of my mech. Go look to steal some one elses lunch.. This mech pilot is going to be reaching you from range and you'll have to get to me all the while being hammered from missle shots.

I'm all for legging, armor is there for a reason. Plus a skilled player can help out a less skilled teammate by legging and allowing them to finish them off.

If I get bored enough, I might just see how many Mechs I can leg while running away laughing.

Thats back in the day when players and clans ran THEIR OWN servers. So if you joined THEIR server, you had to follow THEIR rules. Otherwise, dont join in the first place.
This game will be done on a central match made server, so no rules except those listed by PGI's EULA / NDA. These would be the standard game mode rules (cap base, time limit, dont friendly fire)

If you snub your armour in the legs, expect to have them missing.

Hey, legging happens. A fact of combat. Just like headshots.

It seems like it'll be a valid tactic, but just be careful that while you're busy shooting someone in the legs, they're not busy shooting you in the face.
