Title says it all: how is the Heat Management Rating calculated?

Does anyone actually know?

Thanks!

that is a good question. If you search the forums, you can find other answers to this question. None of them really give an exact formula, but do point you in the right direction. I'd ignore it for now until some provides an exact formula with explanation.

It was figured out a long time ago, it is actually misleading in two ways.
  • The number lacks any good context
  • The calculation is derived as though heat sinks actually give diminishing returns. While DHS technically have diminishing returns thanks to true dubs, the calculation is more of a curve than a linear with a drop-off.
So in other words, if you want good stats, build it in Smurfy or use the Heat Simulator site.

the heat rating is a straight up lie. especially in clan mechs. If your new and are always trying out new loadouts i highly recommend using the training grounds to get a feel for your build.
