From the stats, I had played a total of 83 games to finish the challenge--41 wins, 42 losses. I used HBK-4G, HBK-4P, HBK-4J and STK-4N during the first half of the challenge. I just bought them and I was merely using the 3-Day Premium reward to speed level them.

Around the middle of my challenge quest, I suddenly had a big loss streak. It just seemed like the team was not doing enough despite my 50 ton Mediums pulling good numbers. After a period of analysis, I deduced that the Assault pilots in my team were not doing enough to make a difference, due to either incompetence, or cowardice.

I got off of my basic-d Mediums and jumped on to my 6xUAC5 Dakka Whale named "Piston the Cheater", and it was pretty easy to get the requirements after that. See enemy mech, shoot enemy mech, enemy mech goes pop. Even if I die I cause enough damage to the enemy team so my team gets the edge. Also had a back to back penta-kill.

For me, it seems as long as I pilot my Whale, 1 kill + 1 assist + win challenge is nothing hard. The challenge had attracted so many underhivers, that my Whale had very little problem dakka-ing them to oblivion. Did run out of ammo on couple of occasions though.

And apparently now I am richer than Blake.

I basically did what I did the last time to get the most benefit for the least hassle: I showed up during the last couple of hours of the Challenge, played 4 matches, got 3 points and banked the 3 days premium time for levelling a 'mech in the future since I already have a mastered CTF-3D, 7 empty mechbays and 215 million cbills. I wonder if the King Crab is worth spending cbills on tomorrow... B)

Can't say I'm happy about this challenge, over 90 games this weekend with 50+ wins. The problem with this was that of the 50 wins I only had 22 with a kill (40+ with most dmg done though) I saw so much "kill stealing" going on it wasn't funny. I would solo another mech down to 40% then suddenly I had support from 6 other mechs one of them taking the kill. What I saw was a major increase in assists (averaged 6+ per match) and much fewer kills as a result I fail this challenge even though I was able to blast through the harder challenge with having to "survive" the match as part of it. Simply put, not happy with this challenge at all but then I suppose that is the nature of a challenge. Not just fighting the fight and winning but dealing with the other kill crazed players trying to do the same. Ahh well will be another chance next week/month and will have to try a bit harder I suppose...

I just started last night. Seemed like people were really cool with spreading the kills around and pretty much every win was a point. Got my premium time but I dunno if I'll get the 3d. Already have one anyway. But premium time ftw!

I used my Hunchback G and J for the entire event.Couple of games in my Wubverine at the end coz I was getting bored.
About 90 matches give or take a few 50/50 w/l.Qiute a few wins without a kill etc .
Next time i'll take an assault mech, seemed way too hard in a medium at times.
Did NOT enjoy it tbh.Brings the worst out in some ppl.

Took me 86 matches to complete the challenge. I played my Timberwolfs almost exclusively. My experience is about the same. A lot of people seemed to use heavyes and assaults without really knowing what their roles were. I also had to be a lot more carefull not to team kills, had people were going in front of me while I was firing to get their kills.

The game that stuck with me the most was one were I did 856 dmg, soloed a direwhale and put some serious damage on 3 heavys and killed a medium. We lost, obviously, no one in my team did more then 350dmg... not even the direwolfs or the king crab. We were not in any kind of bad position either. I guess people were trying to hard to secure their kill instead of trying to actually win.

It was a lot more enjoyable then the Victor challenge to!

Also, playing in the group Q was really the best (we were a group of 2 only). Considerably better then the solo Q. Even when facing full 12 mans, it was a more rewarding loss then those lame solo Q games...

Curious, I also got the same achievement while competing in this event. :P

My experience was mostly positive (as opposed to the Victor challenge we had before; my hand still stings a bit when I think of that punch I gave my desk by accident  ) except for constant desyncing, which is sadly on my end. -_-
But at least everything else felt pretty good. ^_^

I had a different approach.

I went through a cycle of all of my biggest, baddest and most efficient builds - the ones that tend to have the highest W/L ratios and KDRs on an individual mech basis.

Unfortunately, I was simply not able to carry hard enough even in those mechs.

Not even if I managed to score two or three kills at the start to put my team ahead and get the ball rolling.

So I swapped to my lights, because after levelling Kit Foxes and Adders my Light class Elo is like somewhere between the sub-sub basement and the morlock lair.

All I had to do at that point was let the MM fill my team with not derps, and then I would just point them to the enemy, snipe a kill as needed (pretty easy when you are small and fast) and most importantly I kept my Assaults alive often at great cost to my armor value.

No light mechs chewing on my assault's legs this weekend!

I think it took me about 60 matches total? It would likely had taken a lot less had I thought about switching to lights 20 matches earlier.

I did 85 matches and got my 30 in there somehow

lots of wins but not always a kill

I actually love that everyone is scrambling to steal kills. Makes for some intense chases and plenty of hilarity. My friends and I play like that with eachother anyways so was just another day at the office really

Will elite the phract... not sure if I'll keep it after that or not yet

Well, I came up 3 points shy of the Phract.

The Victor challenge was a beast, but I didn't have to deal with lag spikes. In the evenings EST, the game would freeze for a second every time a kill occured. Anybody else experience this?

I wasn't really doing the challenge, just playing normally.

Until this morning I looked and had 24 points and just under two hours. Doable, right? Wrong, 5 game loosing streak killed it for me.

I want to say it was 73-74 games it took me. I'll post my summary from another thread.

View PostXythius, on 18 January 2015 - 06:18 AM, said:

I finished it last night as well. Originally I wasn't really worried about the CTF (I pilot almost exclusively Clan 'mechs), I was more impressed with the PT. But, after the first 3 points on Friday, I was able to keep the momentum going and before I knew it, I had managed 11 points by late Friday night, so I actively started working for it.

There were a few bad matches, but I was able to finish it off in just a few hours Saturday. I really enjoyed the challenge too, I am surprised at the amount of QQ about it - just goes to show that no matter what, some people will just complain.

I rotated thru a few different 'mechs, but my most used - and best performing - was my DWF- Prime (I) with 2x UAC20's, 4x MPLS and TC MK1. I would focus on getting a kill as early as possible, then would simply maim anything else I came across and leave them for the rest of my team. I tried to avoid taking another kill, but sometimes I really had no choice, or I would nail a side torso on an XL 'mech when trying to disarm them. Many times I pulled 700-1000 damage and only one or two kills, sometimes to then be flamed by some members of my team for 'not pulling my weight'. Sorry for being a team player, I guess...? /shrug

110 matches played
50 qualified
60 wins

I only played mechs that gave me a high chances at winning. Dual AMS and LRMs base mechs.

Only took me 50 to get the 3D. The other matches was when I was leveling it and the 1x. 110 number is from the entire weekend.
