Hey so something I noticed was that the mech armor/ health displayed in the videos goes in a series of shades from green to orange to yellow and red.

I personally am slightly red green color blind, and have a hard time distinguishing between the various levels of armor damages (at least in the video).

Is there any plans to accommodate for this? Either displaying numerical values over top, or being able to select different color schemes?

I suppose there will be a mod for that like there's one for the WoT. I support the idea for you guys who need it to be develop by the devs. +1

This certainly is an important issue, maybe there is an option to change colors of the display... if not it would be an important feature to add before release.

Yeah I mean, I know its early yet, so I almost feel like I'm "knit picking" But I really have to stare at the armor status silhouette to figure out which is which and in a fight where you need to make quick decisions that could be a major draw back.

There is still lots of time left in the development cycle for changes/support for issues like this to be addressed, but I was just curious if there was any known information on it yet.

As someone with a fairly out of the norm color-blindness issue I would be all over this. I saw marked improvement in my play when Riot accommodated for the red-green colorblind in LoL. Even though I'm not red-green colorblind the color choices they made were also high contrast which was my problem (blue and purple don't distinguish that far at the end of the day).

I'm not colorblind, but I would appreciate the ability to customize your HUD colors to make them more personal.

I fully support this. I am not color blind but feel it is only right to accommodate those that are with, especially what really is not a difficult thing to fix

That is the thing, It really is an easy thing to fix, so I'm sure it they can do it if necessary, I just wanted to raise the point so that they were aware of it in order to address it sooner then later. ;)

Admit it, you want it to be completely pink ;)

The OP here raises a valid concern that many a developers today seem to neglect. I hope that someone from PGI reads this and forwards it to the dev crew(s)

While I have no such problems myself, I see why it will be an issue for quite a few players, and one that can probably be rectified very easily by the devs.

I to am color blind in the red spectrum and would like something a little easier to read. Hopefully we get something like the previous games where you could toggle to a set of health bars for the individual locations. Or perhaps have it go from green fading into blues.

And yes many developers these days neglect to put in things that help colorblind people see their UIs better. I find it odd as being colorblind while uncommon isn't super rare (about 8-10% of males) I Remember I couldn't play DC online for the longest time because I couldn't see my cooldowns.

If I remember from previous incarnations of Mechwarrior, there was always a way to change the damage display to show a bar which drops given the damage which is taken. Each bar represents a armor section. I hope they will import this option to this game since that would solve your problem nicely non?

Definitely something that should be brought up since the amount of people who are at least red-green or blue weak (yes someone could not differentiate between several shades of blue always moved my game tokens ^^) is surprisingly high...

good point

Yeah just having the "body part" cell's color deplete vertically as the mech takes damage would work too!

i am red/green colorblind so it really affects me...
that sort of blindness is actually pretty common amongst today's men ^_^

i really hope they make those colours good to differentiate from each other (e.g. different brightness levels...)

I think in the videos I saw as well, the armor didn't only just change color but size as well. This may be due to armor being destroyed.

Note in the frozen city video at the following times:

1:20-1:26

In the upper right you'll see your target information. During these six seconds you see three different targets, each with a different size armor. Most importantly, the right leg of the Atlas during the last few seconds of it has no indicator, meaning to me at least that the right leg has been destroyed.

But, I'll leave that up to your interpretation.

A dev confirmed the ability to change hud color had been discussed/considered or something. So by now maybe there have done something.
