** Updated 31 JUL 2015 **

The 3025 "Pauper" League is for players who want to use stock 3025 era mechs in lance vs lance private matches. When I say "stock" I mean that the mech is EXACTLY like it was when it was purchased from the MWO store (no proxies, or "slight adjustments"). The only personalization that can be done is to the camo and cockpit items. So if this does not interest you, then do not bother reading further.

For the sake of sanity and inclusiveness, I have decided to forget about the faction requirement for the time being, especially since we would need allot of players to make that work properly.

OK, here it is:

________________________________________________________

MWO 3025 Pauper League Rules and Restrictions v2.0

MECHS

- Must be completely stock (except for camo and cockpit items).

- Must be available in 3025 (3028) Battletech (see the link to the .PDF below)

- Must currently be in MWO (no proxies, even though the .PDF will list mechs which are not currently in MWO).

- If you currently own one of the mechs that you want to use, but you don't remember the stock loadout, you can look it up on Smurfy's Mechlab (see the link below)

- No modules or consumable will be permitted.

- It is OK to master your pilot skills (and highly recommended).

LANCES

- Must be four qualifying mechs

- Must be as close to equal tonnage as possible

GAME MODE

- Games will be played in Skirmish mode.

- Maps will be random

- Game duration will be maximum

- An observer will be present to verify the winner (and stream the match if desired).

- For now, we can post the game results in this thread (if desired).

________________________________________________________

Ok, pretty simple. For now I suggest adding each other to our friends lists and using in-game comms, or the NGNG TS. I think some time during the weekend might work best.

LINKS

This is not an official mech list, but someone did a damned good job gather all of the information (use the 3028 Inner sphere mech lists):

This sounds like a cool idea. I'd love to play but the only faction I have any loyalty to outside of Clan Smoke Jaguar is the Wobbies. What can I say, I'm a sucker for the guys everybody hates and eventually wipes out.

While I am a huge fan of 3025, I think quirks ruin the the game mode as much or more than XL engines, DHS, and Clan-tech. Maybe after PGI implements the new BV system.

You could always make a separate account and just use Trial mechs to earn enough Cbills for your mech (3025 stock mechs are pretty cheap).

Maybe, until there is enough interest, we could just forget about the faction requirement?

The BV system isn't replacing or removing quirks, it's just their fancy name for their new tiering system to decide quirks.

Most of the current quirks complement a mech's stock build, so it should not be too much of a problem.

If/when we get the choice for stock mechs in private matches we'll have 3025 tournies/leagues.

I would be interested.

Actually, I messaged Russ a while ago regarding Stock Mech gameplay (for CW and an alternate leveling idea, but that's not the point I'm trying to make.) While he wasn't keen on the idea of combining stock Clan/IS mechs against each other, he did message me that:

"I think if it has any chance of coming into MWO it will need to prove it's worth in private matches first."

So maybe we could get a movement going with it? See how many people would jump on board and then go from there? Catch the eye of PGI so to speak.

At the VERY least, maybe we could beg to be able to use Stock Mechs somehow in Private Matches if we already bought the chassis but don't want to rebuy parts, or be able to use them for free like a trial mech... that way people couldn't lie about using FF or ES to bump up their armor past stock limits? Maybe even have the match leader be able to select "quirks/no quirks" eventually... dunno what kind of nightmare on the back end this would entail database-wise but just throwing thoughts out there, nothing hard core in stone or anything.

But yeah it sounds fun!

3025 Stock Mode is surprisingly well balanced, diverse and fun to play, but not with quirks. And overall this, is really offering something new in MWO. You get instantly very different game play and more Battletechish in this "Battetech Game".
Quirks made already strong meks way OP. Like Hunchys or Awesome.
They changes in Weapon Stats is not doing good too, as those changes was designed to deal with full custom madness, but are making balance off in Stock.
There is a problem with ammo as well.
So whats Stock Privet Button needs to have is: Quirks Off, TT Weapons Stats and double TT ammo.
If we are on that +50% ranges instead of +100% we got now, would be nice too. But those 3 above are absolutely essential for good, balanced game play.
Then we can talk.

Clan vs IS in stock are very fun as well, but those needs to be balanced with numbers of course.
The best balance I believe we found is one star vs two lances, 5v8.
Yeah, very fun and challenging for both sides.

You might wanna limit it to stock mechs. Otherwise certain highly quirked mechs get a bit silly. (Drg 1N and WLV-6R in particular are horrifyingly deadly even without DHS)

Anyhow, I've got some stock light and medium 3025 mechs. If you start something along that lines, let me know.

The Wobbies used mercs too so there's a plausible out for ya.... :D

our unit used to do scrims like this, it's a lot of fun.

our rules were essentially: no DHS/endo/ferro, restricted access to a handful of mechs (I don't remember all of them offhand, but iirc no cataphracts was a big one), and no hero chassis. You might also have to restrict some on the basis of quirks, not sure.

get ready for the hunchback meta; my nine SLas 4P got work done in our games.

If this happens, I want to use "store-stock" mechs, not the so-called stock mechs some units use (front-loaded armor, changing engines, adding / removing HS and JJ).

And yes, Hunchbacks are very strong in 3025 TT and MegaMek, so I have no doubt that they will be strong in this format.

we wound up deciding that it was more fun to just use old-tech construction rules than make everybody stick to the stock loadouts. Because 1) building mechs is fun and 2) some of the stock loadouts are so flagrantly bad that nobody would ever want to use them.

'store-stock' also introduces some rule issues; any mech that comes with DHS or an XL is gonna have a big advantage, unless you just restrict the use of those chassis I guess

Interesting idea. Allows me to play competitively again without having to be bored out of my mind with grinding and leveling stuff.

Understandable, but like I have said millions of times, not all mechs were meant to be equal, there were always some that were better than others. Building your lance with a mix of "good" and "bad" mechs would help to balance things out. Also, this would just be like a one or two times a week thing, so you would have all the rest of the time to tinker with your other mechs.

Well, competitively might be stretching it a bit. :-)

Anyway, I will be on and off all weekend, so send me a friend invite and if we have at least two of us online with premium time, we could try this out.
