Probably not if your playing on the lower tiers.

It's definitely a tier thing. At about 8pm Sydney time I waited 1 hour 39 minutes for a solo drop in a medium. Pretty stupid. Ping isn't a big deal for direct fire. Zoom and target lock are super buggy, but besides that, PGI did a great job with hit reg.

Hello i'm in Queensland Aus specifically Toowoomba near Brisbane and i'm receiving the worst pings i've ever seen in an online game when i started two weeks ago my pings were 250ish to all servers now as of this past week my pings have jumped up to over 400 on all servers even the oceanic one which in my opinion is insane and not playable...

I'm on Telstra and have zero issues with anything else i play or visit..

After the last patch my ping returned to 250 to the USA and EU was about 300, later the same day they went back to over 400 what on earth is going on...

Also there is a Steam forum thread complaining of these issues as well...

Last patch has definitely changed things, I've gone from 230-250 for both Oceania an N America to 150 Oceania and 300 N America.

Its only the Telstra customers experiencing problems as far as I can tell. I'm with Iinet in Perth and all is same as usual.

Using Telstra ISP. From Perth

Much better lately, certainly usable. But I would say its an asymmetric route because I can get pings of 80 to other servers in Singapore.

The additional latency is what I would expect if the return route is going via Sydney to Perth instead of straight to Perth.

Its my understanding that long asymmetrical routes are bad for gaming.

Last patch brought my OC pings down from ~250 to ~150, while simultaneously ratcheting up my NA pings from ~220 to ~300. I'm in Wellington, NZ.

EDIT: My NA pings have gone up even further - they're averaging 400 now. This latency is so bad that I'm taking NA servers off of my list (although I may try EU to see if they've gotten better). That's going to also have the effect of preventing me dropping with my Unit till the NA server situation gets fixed.

Optus.

melb.

OCeanic - 160-180

NA 270-290 (it got really bad lately)

I wish the NA server was on the west coast (Los angeles etc) . Then everybody would get better ping, West Coast USA is literally the best place on Earth for a centralized server.

This is straight from the TPG website. https://www.tpg.com....9&timeframe=now .

My question is.. does that mean after this is fixed, our ping should significantly improve? Cause I'm at 300 - 400 seconds constant right now.

TPG

At approximately 20:00:10 AEDT on 5 February 2016, the TPG Network Operations Centre received multiple alarms for the PPC-1 cable system between Sydney and Guam. The alarms indicated that a submarine line card had lost its payload. A Network Incident ticket was created and the issue was immediately escalated to the PPC-1 transmission engineering team.

The Transmission engineering team, in collaboration with infrastructure vendors, completed preliminary investigations and have found a fibre fault approximately 4,590 kilometres from Guam. The nature for the fibre fault has resulted in an outage to the entire PPC-1 cable system. TPG has started to work with our maintenance contractor to understand when we can mobilise a repair ship to the specific location. Due to the nature of the fault, resolution is expected to take an extended period.

TPG has in place international IP network resilience via alternative submarine cable systems including Southern Cross and the Australian Japan Cable system. TPG apologises for any inconvenience.

I've got something weird going on. I'll disconnect from MWO and my teamspeak channel and can't re-connect. But, I'm still able to access half my TS channels and the internet. It's like I'm being denied access to servers in certain countries. This has been happening randomly for the past 2 months. Maybe once every couple weeks, sometimes for a few hours at a time. My ISP is staffed by 1st graders and can't help.

I'm currently
140-210 to Oceanic
350-470 to NA
320-400 to EU

Which honestly makes no sense, NA should be around 250 for me..

NA is located in Canada iirc

EU is Germany (ping there)

Oceanic is Singapore iirc

I live in melb and get 360 to singapore and some days 160, why is this???

Because underwater cables have been cut and so traffic is being re routed leading to higher pings and traffic congestion will all play a part.

My ping to the "Oceanic" servers now varies between ~69 and ~180 per match.

So its like one IP address suddenly has better routing or something, IDK.

I still ping to US servers in other many other games on many servers around 250-300. When I play MWO it pings 500-600, This isn't on our end it is on PGI to fix this.

I started off today exclusively playing OC servers because they were the only sub-200 ping around. Then, suddenly they jumped from about 150 to 260 at around 10am (New Zealand time). Now the playing is poor on all servers.Posted Image

Hey Guys,

Telstra user from Sydney. I've had ping increase from approx 250 to 550+ when connecting to the US server for the last two weeks or so. This is also happening for other games that I play with US servers. I spoke to Telstra and they have advised that there is an issue with the PPC-1 cable out of Guam.. not sure that I believe them
