I'm trying to decide which ones to put on my Direwolf. I feel like the added range of the C-UAC 5's is not so much as to matter a great deal. So I suppose it comes down to DPS, heat, & slots. Unless I'm forgetting something else. Considering those, I think the C-UAC 10 edges out the 5. The 5 takes up a mind boggling 7 tons, compared to the C-UAC 10s 10 tons, and they almost take up the same amount of slots. Is there something I'm missing here? C-UAC 5 seem to be objectively worse than C-UAC 10s, and I don't think that the 5s having 90 meters extra range over the 10s makes that much of a difference really.

UAC10's also get more ammo / ton. 200 damage per ton vs. 150, I think, for the UAC5's.

Four UAC5's are 12 DPS, though, while two UAC10's are 8 DPS (before quirks and efficiencies and stuff). Jam chance is a wee bit lower for the 5 as well. Not sure on that, though.

The 5's have a better range, faster projectile speed and a higher sustained DPS than the 10's, also you don't lose as much damage if one does jam.

UAC5s only fire 2 projectiles per salvo, UAC10s fire 3. In combination with projectile speed, UAC5s are much more easy to keep on target/same hit box than UAC10s.

Ghost heat. UAC-10s run quite hot as it is. Throw in GH and you'll be spending most of your time trying to cool down.

OP - if you're gonna take a Dire, go for a large UAC battery. 2x10s, 3x5s is popular, but you can also mix 2's and 5's. Otherwise, you can run 2xUAC10's on TBRs and EBJs, which are a lot more mobile. Even the HBR can do it, but I don't care for the amount of armor you have to strip to make it happen.

Its really 3xUAC10 (30 tons / 12 slots) vs 4xUAC5 (28 tons / 12 slots).

The 10s have vastly more punch, but less easy to apply damage at range and MUCH hotter.

3xUAC5 + 2xUAC10 is the gold standard DW full dakka build.

2xUAC5 + 2xUAC10 will likely be the gold standard KDK-3 Dakka build.

Not so much, as long as you don't alpha every shot.

I prefer quad 10's to stacking 5's, just feels more lethal to me. That's from a fun perspective, I have no numbers or data to back that up hahaha.

Ghost heat on quad UAC10 isn't that crazy. It's like firing 4.5 UAC10s instead of 4. Not like multiple UAC20, where 2+ is a massive, crippling increase in heat.

Generally I'd prefer not to mix them (so one cooldown module covers them all), just take whichever one fits the available tonnage/hard points the best and go from there.

i ran 6 AC5 loadout and 4 AC10 loadout on a dire without a problem with heat, it can overheat but lets face it if your target isnt dead before that your just not aiming well enough............

i like both although the AC10 loadout is a better brawling loadout, the AC5 loadout along with a targetting computer 4 or 5 is a very good at short and long range......

my personal max damage attained with these loadouts is...
max dmg with AC5 in 1 round is about 900
max dmg with AC10 in 1 round is just over 1100

these are pretty competitive scores dont you think compared to other mechs.
