Well, I certainly hope I am not stepping on anyone's toes here, but here we go...

During our Game Ranger battles last night I noticed that chatting in Team Speak 3 with some of you guys is a blast. And why in the world has no one done this before now? Well if the Devs don't like this I guess they will delete this thread and put a Gauss rifle to my head. Sorry guys, it just seems like the next logical step to me.

Earlier today, I downloaded the server version of TeamSpeak 3. I then logged and registered a server for the channel. I paid for 6 months, and if this becomes very popular, I will continue to host it on my dime. No problem there.

Here is where you get TeamSpeak 3 if you don’t already have it...

http://www.teamspeak...?page=downloads

If you already have it, or once you get it installed, here is the server address and password for the server…

Server Address is ts9.gameservers.com:9108
Password is MWO1 (That is uppercase M W O and the number one.)

I’ve got various rooms set up in there already, but I am sure we will have to refine it some over the next few weeks.

If you have a Microphone you can talk, if not you can at least hear everyone else, and chat real time in the text chat window.

Hope this is an acceptable post here… really hate gauss rounds to the head.

Don't have a Gauss handy, but I do have The Laser Beam.

This is a great idea guys. My friends have a vent server we use for everything - TF2, L4D2, World of Tanks, LoL, everything. I love when communities step up and do this though, you get a gold star Hunter*!

or you could use cell phones w/ headsets or bluetooth and teleconference....or set up a LAN in your gameroom and have everyone over and yell at each other, that's even more fun :)

Having an integrated chat system in the game is something I'm hoping for. It puts everyone on a single standard for voice comms and at the very least allows everyone to hear everyone else which helps with coordination.

From what I understand, the gold stars are redeemable for a single Otter Pop.

Are there any plans of having in game lancer chatter?

It could really open up alot of possibilities for the whole technology war. You could radio jam mechs, or hack into other mechs radio and hear the enemy so you know what they know. Has this been talked about?

At the moment a lot of this is still unclear BUT as of right now I think we do have a community TS3 server up and running thanks Hunter McGee.
See Here: http://mwomercs.com/...ce-chat-anyone/

As for others I know some of the MW:LL vets sit in outreach TS server. That's all we really all we have at the moment.

As for in game communication and hacking, that would be a little hard to do because of third party platforms such as vent and TS3. Because of third party there would be no reason to use the offered in game VOIP if it could get hacked and everyone would be using TS / Vent because of this.

An excellent place to pose that question would be HERE

As Cattra said; at this point it is all speculation, hearsay and hula physics™

I think there might be a use for pre-recorded messages, specifically for communicating with the opposing team. I'd like to be able to communicate with my opponents, whether its to challenge them to a one-on-one battle, taunt them, or demand their surrender.

A way, to make people want to use the ingame Voice chat, rather than a third party system like vent is to give a communication score/bonus points for a team that coordinates and uses their radio (its easy to do, you just have an algorithm ,that marks the high points in speech input, and if there is a certain number of communications per minute you get a nice little bit of bonus exp for good communication)

That won't get abused... :)

I have to agree with Agasutin here. While having a seamless in-game voip would rock, and is almost a no-brainer at this stage of game technology, having one that scores points based on usage would be severely abused. Every time someone says "Pew pew" or "Oh dag nabbit I've been killed" (this can usually be summed up in four letters) or even "Hey Joe, you finish that Jolt Cola already?". Not really quality tactical communications n'est pas?

On topic, although Teamspeak and Skype and etc are good for lances, in-game voip is good for full team communication.

I would really love to see this integrated beyond communication, IE, jamming, maximum radius, etc. Although yes lancemates will always be in communication because of third party systems, the idea is still relevant for the team as a whole.

I doubt that such a system will make it in, that's almost unheard of in games. Chromehounds I believe was like that, until XBox party chat was introduced.
