Training Missions/Firing Range

As I'm sure we all remember most Mechwarrior games featured training missions in a non-combat environment that one could undertake in order to familiarise oneself with the basic handling characteristics of a mech, perhaps assess a new weapons load or set of keybinds.......basically they presented you with the option of learning some Mech piloting and gunnery skills in a more comfortable and low-pressure environment.
Does anything like this exist in MWO or is it likely to be implemented?
I for one (admitting my poor/rusty skills) would love the opportunity to refresh myself with mech operations, test new variants and keybinds without having the added complication of having to acquit oneself one in actual combat at one and the same time.
Any thoughts?

<Chris K> Will there been any sort of firing range/testing grounds that we can use to test out our mech’s load outs for purposes of heat management etc before we take them into battle?
<[PGI]Omid> Yes, we have plans for this feature (though it currently does not exist in our current Beta implementation). It's our intention that you should be able to check out your 'Mech before going into a match. I should add though that these decisions usually come down from design (Bryan Ekman, etc) and we act on them according to their priorities.

I dont mind the trial by fire, but if it cost me CBills to fix because I didnt know what button commands what function, then yeah I need some "stick time" or rather, "keyboard time" to figure out how to move and shoot without blowing the arm off a team mate simply cause I hit the "enter key" thinking I was changing weapons groups and fired instead...

Good advice but is there really a need if they're already planning it's implementation?
