Greetings MechWarriors!

Welcome to this month's patch and the MWO rebrand to MechWarrior Online: Legends. This update marks a new dawn for MWO as we forge ahead in 2023 and beyond. MechWarrior is at the center of Piranha Games' efforts, with both new and existing projects! This patch introduces the first generation of new Legendary BattleMechs with the Juggernaut and the Moonwalker, their new mini battle pass rewards system, a brand new Quick Play and Event Queue map called Free Worlds Coliseum, and another round of 'Mech and Quirk updates. See the details and pictures below!

We want to you know that the rebrand is the start of more Legendary content and updates to come this year, which include but are not limited to:
  • More Legendary 'Mechs
  • New Maps and Continued Map Improvements
  • Matchmaker Improvements
  • New 'Mech Chassis
  • New Weapon Types and More!

Updates are subject to further balance changes in the future, so get out there and do the science, and get us your feedback for future iterations.

And now, we really hope you enjoy the patch!
-The MechWarrior Online Team

MECHWARRIOR ONLINE: LEGENDS
This month we say goodbye to MechWarrior Online: Solaris 7, and rebrand to MechWarrior Online: Legends (see new logo below). Although Solaris lives on in Event Queue (check out the current Clan Medium Solaris event happening all weekend!), it doesn't represent the game in general, the changes we've made over the last couple of years, or the direction MWO is heading this year and next. One of the first key steps is the new Legendary 'Mechs and their mini-battle pass system. We look forward to hearing what you think of the value of the Legendary 'Mechs and mini battle pass. Check out the Legendary 'Mechs below for more information!

NEW LEGENDARY BATTLEMECHS
PLEASE NOTE: REDEEM BATTLEPASS REWARDS ON THE WEBSITE STORE PAGE (UPDATED EVERY HOUR).
With the Legends rebrand comes the new Legendary BattleMechs! The first two Legendary (LGD) 'Mechs available are the Fafnir "Juggernaut" and the Mad Cat Mk II "Moonwalker" (see pictures below). Each 'Mech will sell for $15 USD on the website, and will also be available on Steam. Each Legendary 'Mech is a new variant of an existing chassis, has a custom paint job, an "outlier" quirk, and a 30% C-Bill boost. Also included with each pack is the new mini battle pass system driven by 'Mech XP. Just by playing the 'Mech, you will earn GSP, C-Bills, MC, Premium Time, and exclusive Cockpit Items, Decals, Colors, and Bolt-Ons! However, unlike a typical battle pass system, there will be no expiration date to earn these extra items. Take as long as you need!

PLEASE NOTE: WE DISCOVERED AN ERROR WITH THE JUGGERNAUT BUILD. WE HAVE UPDATED THE GRAPHIC!
THERE WILL BE A HOTFIX FOLLOWING THE PATCH TO UPDATE THE MECH.
CHANGE: updated armor quirk values: +20 CT, +20 RT, +20 LT

PLEASE NOTE: WE DISCOVERED AN ERROR WITH THE MOONWALKER BUILD. WE HAVE UPDATED THE GRAPHIC!
THERE WILL BE A HOTFIX FOLLOWING THE PATCH TO UPDATE THE MECH.
ERROR: MISSING ARM ACTUATORS

NEW MAP: FREE WORLDS COLISEUM
Level Designer Krazzdaxx brings you his first completely new map creation in the form of Free Worlds Coliseum (see pictures below)! This is a pretty unique map, in that although it's a "coliseum" like Steiner's own, it is much larger in scale. This map will be available in both Quick Play, and Event Queue as a dropdeck-capable map.

(On the overhead map below, the red arrow is pointing to a Mad Cat Mk II Moonwalker for map scale reference.)

    Patch Files (Direct Download)

To make the patching process easier for players with limited download caps, we'll be providing direct download links for the patch file(s) that comprise this patch. This will allow you to download the patch file(s) elsewhere, for manual injection into the MWO patcher through a Patch Cache folder.

Aside from allowing you to download the patch file(s) elsewhere, on another connection, there are no additional benefits to performing the patch this way; the patching process itself will be the same.

This direct patch download process will only work for players running the standalone client. It does not apply to players running MWO through Steam.

    Patch File(s): - http://patcher.mwome...ndPatch_414.zip

    • Download the above file(s)
    • For sake of ease, we recommend creating a dedicated folder for the patch file(s), such as 'MWO Patch Cache'
    • You do not need to unzip or unpack the patch file(s)
    • Launch the MWO Portal
    • Select the three horizontal lines in the top left of the Portal Window
    • Choose the 'Specify Patch File Cache' option
    • In the field that appears, paste or enter the location in which you saved the patch file(s) and hit OK
    • For example, C:\Users\<username>\Documents\MWO Patch Cache
    • Click the blue Patch button
    • The launcher will now check the Patch Cache folder you defined. If it locates the required patch files, it will unpack and use those files to apply the patch.
    • Once the patch is complete, launch the game

I heard rumours of a hitbox adjustment to fafnirs. Is that coming in this patch?

any plans for releasing legendary mechs for mc at a later date? even just non-CB boost/battlepass versions, I fear they might be P2W otherwise.

The Legendary mech thing seems intriguing for sure; lots of potential there with outlier quirks.

Not sure why the Hatamoto got stepped on, they are quite rare and I don't seen them being the deciding factor in matches I play, ever.

The Jenner did need a hand, so that's cool.

Does the Fafnir Juggernaut have +ammo quirk (like +50% all ballistic ammo) quirk?

The Fafnir in particular cries out for +ammo bonus; IS ballistic weapons are so heavy :(

I might buy more than one Fafnir Juggernaut if there's +ammo quirk! ;)

All mechs have a platinum mech to them, so no more

are you expecting them to release all the patch notes in one day now?
isn't that asking for a bit too much?
they obviously way too busy, they haven't even finished the quirks for the legendary mechs yet or they certainly would post them to build up some hype for this new class of mech.

Omegalul, that is what the patch notes are, but alright. Hope to see an update.
