Wow I still think they are jumping the gun on open beta and lifting the NDA, but it's just my opinion. It doesn't make sense though that they don't announce these things here first.

Yeah the post is from an official press release i received from Piranha's PR company just a few minutes ago. It's as official as it gets.

Sometimes PR agencies jump the gun and send out press releases before devs update their own sites. It's not rare at all. That may be the reason why they didn't put it on here yet.

Edit, Your premium time just affects what you have for builds, so build what you can, and you will have it for the CW launch.

Hope they'll at least give us an option to re-enable direct X 11 and disable the film grain before opening the floodgates, because at the moment the looks of the game are IMHO less ready for prime time than they were two days ago.

I'm sure most of us think its not ready, but since they are going to do it anyway, why not do it on a non patch day. They are are going to drop thousands of people on the servers and a big patch! That really doesn't make a lot of sense.

Seems legit, but with how bad this last patch went... sheesh... I'm going to very upset while my premium time ticks down in a nigh-unplayable game if major improvements aren't forthcoming, not to mention match-making.
Edited to add: Good point about patch day, server problems, and a massive wave of new people that won't be able to play. I hope for the best, but I expect something not pretty.

Its not even close to ready for Open Beta. At least not in the way the devs have described what Open Beta means to them.

I don' think it's the best time for open beta. I mean, put many people in just a week after drastically changing the game? ;)

Seriously PGI? Open Beta? ... with bugs all over the place and people reporting horrible lag and FPS drop after the last patch?

Goddamit, I'm out of the country for two weeks starting 17th. If I lose 2 weeks of premium time because I can't choose the time its going to **** me off.

Eh, October 16th is going to be the patch we get endo steel structure, double heat sinks, and a bunch of other things too (working guardian ECM/BAP/command consoles possibly) from the looks of it (if they go according to the BETA posts.). I've heard that the lag issues were from mech's with command consoles dropping from the game, though I don't know if it is true. I just really hope that things are better on the 16th, if it is indeed open beta time.

It's way too soon but we should have anticipated this. If the game is to have a major cover story, people are going to want to play it after reading the article.
