Steel Battalion, while it has problems, is actually my favorite game of all time.
I like this controller a tad more, though:

It's the one they're making for Hawken. I feel like given Hawken's nature of gameplay, a controller such as this would be much better suited to MWO. Which is what I'm going to use it for.

Wonder why no pedals =\
Maybe add some pedals from a flight sim setup and use them for torso twist etc =)

When i'm running on my big gaming rig (New-style Skulltrail madcap setup) i use my old SB Controller
Takes up a -LOT- of space but it's quite fun, i prefer a mouse + KB for speed and precision though, honestly.

They do support this, I use a Cyborg V1. However the turn access is digital as in key press input, but it works for me.

I'd agree if this was a generic first person shooter dressed up as a mech game like certain other mech games that go into open beta fairly soon coughhawkencough, but this is Mechwarrior. Even with a mouse, you can only move your torso so fast. Even a mech's arms have limited speed. A good joystick user can (when joystick support is completed) fight a good mouse user, and it's a matter of skill, who has the better mech, and who has taken more damage beforehand, rather than lol8956132852956352856327414965461532418562degreespininhalfasecond for the mouse user and O NOES I CAN'T TURN AT ALL for the joystick user.

The Thumbpad is used for the weapon groups switching.

Get out of your complete narcissism and understand to each their own. Everyone has their own play-style and preference(s) it's all about what an individual is most comfortable with, not what you say is "the only way to play", llama.
I for one will switch from the good 'ol kboard and mouse to the Razer Artemis which v2 last I heard is to come into the market at around $100. Almost what I payed for a top-notch mouse and that's only because I spend time in photoshop, illustrator and flash.
The razer artmeis roxors mah boxors!

The Artemis is pretty thing.
But the n52te is from the price really attractive.
And can be used for everything.
MMORPGs and other gametypes.
