Get out of your complete narcissism and understand to each their own. Everyone has their own play-style and preference(s) it's all about what an individual is most comfortable with, not what you say is "the only way to play", llama.

I for one will switch from the good 'ol kboard and mouse to the Razer Artemis which v2 last I heard is to come into the market at around $100. Almost what I payed for a top-notch mouse and that's only because I spend time in photoshop, illustrator and flash.

The razer artmeis roxors mah boxors!

ONLY $100? My lord, dude, source me, please! I'll pay that!

My setup...yeah it's weird and kind of a work in progress but I love it:
Also I have pretty big hands.

Mouse was 20 bucks, pad was 60 bucks.

Anyone who says the Steel Bat controller is the best thing ever has never played the game for any length of time. This thing is fun, but horribly inefficient in every aspect. The most important buttons you need require you to let go of one (or both) joysticks to reach.

I own two of these controllers, but I would NEVER use them for MWO...EVER. Give me my CH Combat Stick anyday.

I've been using an old Sidewinder 2 that I had floating around. Not as nice as some of the other throttle/joystick combos out there, but it gets the job done and feels like a mech game to me.

Maybe mouse and key works better for some people, but I really like the joystick. It's a lot more intuitive to me.

The Nostromo line is probably the best multi-purpose PC gaming peripheral available. I've used all 3 models, the N52, n52te, and Razor's update. They're great for FPS, MMO, RTS, MOBA, you name it. Functionally its the same as a keyboard, just actually purpose built for gaming instead of typing.
The Artemis uses a modified version of the Nostromo, so you can get that functionality now for $70 without taking up your whole desk. Get used to having the lefthand command console, and when PGI finally fixes joystick support, throw on whatever right hand controller you want and you're .
I use the dpad for throttle up/down and turn left/right, blue mode for firing groups and targeting, red mode for toggling camera modes, battle grid, and power. Green mode has weapons grouping and assignment binds, chain fire toggle, and a UAC5 unjam macro.
Put up a vid of my setup..

I'll try and track down the exact post or review. I recall seeing this 'hopeful base price' when I first saw the artemis at E3 I think it was and nfo found through google and razer, but once again, i'll try and give ya's a concrete quote and source/URL.

Cheers!

Well apologies thus far I haven't found the source, yet. I'm thinking it was a review around E3 time where they had spoken to Razer representatives concerning the Artemis and they wanted it to be available to many mech-pilots and not just a select few - thus the price tag. I recall the price range well because it made an impression on me towards Razer as a company.

I'll leave at this ... I own you all a bier if I'm wrong. $100-125 US - 150ish Euros ~

Good Hunting!

In my 15 years of hardcore gaming, the Nostromo is far and away the single greatest gaming purchase I've made. I'm dead serious. The left side of the artemis isn't half as good as the nostromo. The Nostromo makes an expensive gaming mouse unnecessary, 5 button lasers are cheap now, and joysticks aren't as quick/accurate as a joystick. I really prefer the linear button layout and thumb features.

My nostromo setup:
Thumbpad = Feet omnidirectional movement (key was setting it to D-Pad)
Buttons:
Stop, Center Torso, weapon groups 1-5, Heat/thermal, Target, Display all known mechs, map, score, override, freelook, zoom, teamspeak

And the kicker is that you can have 6 8 differing layouts hotswappable with a keypress if you want. If you setup the D-Pad to be Cntrl, Win, Alt, Shift and the combinations inbetween you could theorhetically have over 1,400 different keys/characters usable on the nostromo.Oh, and you can record and create custom button macros. In SWTOR I had 10 macros that did up to 20 keypresses quickly. Try primary knockdown, if cooling down do secondary knockdown, not enough energy do primary energy builder, prime energy builder cooling down do secondary builder...
