From a Kotaku Q and A here:

WardenWolf 49 minutes ago
The latest patch (yesterday) changed LRM arcs substantially - something that was not noted in the patch notes. Can you confirm if this was a bug, or if this is intended LRM behavior? If it is intended, what is the counter supposed to be? Cover - even tall buildings or cliffs - is no longer effective in stopping incoming missiles as they simply fly over and then straight down on top of mechs.

Bug. Got past our process, a failure. That is why Open Beta is so important we need to perfect our processes with a large player base. This should be hot fixed very soon.

So quit stressing! They've also made a few other posts about LRM balance being ongoing and that this is day 1 after patch. Life will be okay.

"NO", post more disgust about an "abhorrent" mistake...
.
Perhaps it will motivate fewer "blunders" happening..!!

I'd be more willing to cut them some slack if such obvious bugs didn't make it through every time they patch.

My only issue about hearing about it being a bug, is that it had to come from a Q&A on a 3rd party website. Why wasn't this post in the patch known issue forum?

OP: You do realize that this page is not kotaku? The fail is with you my 'friend'.

Stop wasting our time and pull your head out of it. It's pretty obvious by now that you have developed quite an unhealthy shade on your neck.

Ah, what do I care. Brown necks are so vogue, right?

Thank the Flying Spagetti Monster!

Also I'd have to reiterate the need for a test server. Because clearly the inhouse testers keep letting this stuff get through to production.

So what exactly is artemetis supposed to do then? It is just something to take up extra slots and cost a **** ton of money, sort of like DHS? When I was using it yesterday I was getting 100,000+ rearm bills on my hunchback.

"Gauss rifle power was tripled in an obscure 'process failure' last patch, and AC-2 fire rate quadrupled. We'll address this next patch.. in a month."

Thanks for the post OP. I had thought that they didn't intend LRMs to be so effective. Unfortunately I don't think it will silence all of the rage, but I appreciate it.

@JewBoy, Artemis still still make missiles hit in a tighter group. The bug is that they were coming in straight downwards. That plus tighter group means lots of headshots.

Test server is looking like a must have, as their internal "play testers" do not appear to be up to the task

We are the test server. This will change whenever the game goes into release. Until then it is just like CB, only the screaming is louder and the poo is on fire.

Dude we are in release. There are no more resets and any money spent is permanent.

If you want to fool yourself into thinking you are paying PGI for the priviledge of testing their game then do so lol.

But this is some mickey mouse nonsense for a game that is already released to the public.

LRMs dominated the battle field before yesterday's patch!
And the missles penetrated many buildings before, too.
Even without another buff (artemis), LRMs were simply overpowered.
Mistakes happen, and I trust PGI that they will eventually fix this imbalance.

But... please... I don't want to be treated like a stupid child.
LRMs ARE broken, every honest person knew and knows that, and there's no sugarcoating that.

Idk but I don't think missiles got me through cover before, and my own seemed to explode on cover. It's just Artemis that's a bit OTT, in the meantime I'll get as much fun out of Artemis as possible *evil grin*.
