Next on Deck:
The PPC/ER-PPC/Large Laser/ER Large Lasers will be investigated with possible heat nerfs..buffs.. (whichever you prefer in terms of LOWERING heat generated by these weapons).
Possible damage buffs may be coming up as well for these weapons.

Have to say I like everything in the weapons balance thread. ( http://mwomercs.com/...apon-balancing/) Best news by far are the tweaks to the PPC. Possible damage increase, heat balance, and special EMP effects!

By all means bring on the wrath of an angry god smack upside the head at extended range PPC awesomeness. Weapon has been my favorite in every MechWarrior game I have played. Glad to see it will be getting some love soon.

Also happy to see other large weapons getting tweaked. You don't see a whole lot of people using them as it is. It will be nice to have some more friendly mid/long range options. Maybe we will see some more fights over distance rather than charge to medium laser range, or hide behind the hill gauss sniping.

I agree with you. I've been wanting to "call down the thunder" in the game for a good while, but I couldn't justify it compared to other weapons.

i think LL is fine.. Its DOT the nature of the weapon that makes it bad in ranged. In ranged combat when ppl are dodging up and down hill, no LL is going to hit for the full duration. The old pin point damage system from MW4 was better for ranged combat.

PPC will be good, but the travel distance will make it hard to hit. even with buffs. It may be better than LL at ranged with the buffs though

Long range combat in general is just not really going to happen in this game, and will always be dominated by LRMs.

I'd still like to see the firing delay addressed and the lag with the where I'm aiming when I press the fire button and where the server thinks I'm aiming when I press the fire button. :D

None of which addresses the lack of convergence in PPCs, nor the excessive convergence in all lasers …

been waiting for this ever since open beta, are they going to buff the damage too? great but i didn't think the heat was that bad. very reminicent of the old ppc's in mech games, that was the trade off instead of gauss and it's ammo, heatsinks up to your eyeballs! if you thought i brought awesomes because they looked good then you're mistaken i brought them for sniping with the coolest weapons in mech lore...

Maybe, but it would probably self destruct on firing.

I am about to buy my next Atlas, but after that I may be looking into a Cat K2 for some PPC sniping. If the new PPC balance is good enough I may have to take a look at the Awesome again.

The problems with PPC/ERPPC's are convergence, fire delay, damage spread, and heat.
Speed was never a problem.

If you chain fire and have breaks it should be fine...assuming you cram the mech full of DHS. (i.e. around 20.)

no, you can't put 7 ppc on an awesome, it has only 1 slot in the head, but you can put 6xerppc, and it's a very funny build, only one thing, evey alpha you will overheat, let it cool down and don't press the 'o' key, or you will explode xD
They won't know what hit them xD

My only problem. I already use PPCs, while I love the buff ideas, I will hate when they become the new flavor of the month. Not because it shouldn't be a FoTM build, but due to the "PPC is OP" spam that will follow.

Nope, it doesn't. One problem at a time is at least better than what we had before. Considering the slow speed on the balancing front...

S!

Indeed good news to see they will look on heavier weapons. PPC is maybe not the hardest hitting out there, but if given EMP effects and slight damage increase and slight heat reduction, then they will be a weapon to reckon on the battle field. To be seen how the EMP will effect though, but shows promise :D

Is it too late to ask for PPC to temporally disrupt electronics on their victim?
This give PPC an extra use, of sniping ECM mechs to disrupt ECM and allow teammates to lock target.
Possibly even allow PPC to disrupt Artemis or chance to cause player to lost target lock, to counter ALRM20 boat.
