Look, I'm a total newb. I downloaded the game and I am playing it now this week.

So, after joining as a free player I am really loving this game. I noticed there was a cool mech for sale (flame) which had a custom skin, c-bill boost and was a Dragon chassis (of which I already have one). So I thought: well its a beta game but only 4500 MC that seems like not a big deal. Let me get myself a christmas present or something. That's like what $6 for a mech?

So I went to buy MC and its actually $30 to get 6k, which is enough to get the 4500 for that mech. $30? Thats way too high. That's the same cost of 2 months of playing WOW and 3x higher than comparable to other F2P games (like vanity mounts or perks which pricepoint around 5-15$).

Sorry, you just priced yourself out of a sale. I am literally typing this post with my credit card out right now. I would have done it but $30 is just not worth it for a mech I may or may not like and probably requires a bunch of modification to get it to match my style. $6, sure. $10 probably. Anything more than that, no thanks.

You are not alone. A majority of forum users feel the MC pricing is extreme. Whether that majority extends to the larger player base - Only time will tell. IGP should play around with the MC prices and see if setting them lower would generate more sales. Maybe it would, and net them more money in the long run. I certainly don't think it's worth buying at present.

PGI is not worried. IGP is who you bought it from.

lol I feel the same way. I am ready to drop $60 right now if they would only have a sale or something. Just started last week and I refuse to buy my first amount of points without a sale.

Even if people are buying at these prices, the people walking are still needed for retention.

Lower prices sell more, make more due to volume of sales.

It's fairly easy to understand.

There's a good chance their business plan was "sell and leech what we can until we have to lower things" INSTEAD of starting off LOW and raising them HIGHER as the game GOES ALONG!

Funny, eh?

I agree. Compared with League of Legends--another game I play alot--the currency price here is too damn high.

I would hesitate to buy even a unique mech.

I believe this is PGI's plot to drain off all the Founders' free currency ASAP. Afterwards, they will lower prices.

This is why I want c-bills per match increased a lot. I am never going to buy a $20 mech, thats just insane. But I would spend $6-10 every month or two for new mechs bays.

Right now it takes so long to fill those mechs bays, I will probably only ever need to make one MC purchase for my lifetime playing this game.

Free? Don't know about you, but mine costed money.

Regarding prices, I also played League heavy for a year and picked it back up for occasional play ECM patch basically turned the game into a bore. The pricing would be more reasonable though if the Mech slot cost was dropped entirely. I don't expect MW to compare with LoL but the least they could do is drop this slot fee. People want to hoard Mechs, that's just natural. Who wouldn't? Being gouged for slots=no fun. That's money that could have went for hero variants, skins for your Mechs, or Premium time. So this slot cost probably encourages many players not to buy that other stuff, which translates into actually dropping less money on the game. Which would you rather get, Piranha, 15$ from a guy needing slots(3kmc=10 slots), or 30$ for a guy wanting that Ilya and/or some Premium?

Unless they have that 20% bonus MC again, I am not whipping out my credit card anytime soon. I buy MC to support the game development, otherwise I am not paying a penny for digital items.

They got spoiled by people paying up to (and in some cases over) $120 for just a promise of a game/8v8 deathmatch. That's enough for an entire year of Eve gaming for example, which has craploads more content. Or quite a few AAA titles.

I wish I knew people would do this, I'd open some kind of restaurant and get them to pay $300 up front before it even opens and then serve cheap burgers for a year while I spent years working up towards a meal deal (maybe...)

And that 20% bonus is laughable. Sony does 200% bonus sales.

I just started last week. This is my first online pc game, I didn't know if I was going to enjoy it. Plus you don't realize how little 4 MC slots are until you have bought a few mechs.

This is what I hate about F2P games, the amount of money they think they can get (and in some cases do), for a simple 8 vs 8 arena game.

Go see what $20 can get you on Steam right now, any one of a dozen games with 5x the content of this one.

Way ahead of ya:
http://www.humblebundle.com/
I always watch the bundles. Last time it was THQ bundle. For 1$ I got Titan Quest, Red Faction Arm+Expo, Metro 2033, Company of Heroes+2 Expos, Darksiders, and the original Warhammer Dawn of War. All that, 1$. This one has some pretty good looking titles on it too though, mainly Snapshot and Closure. The best deals you'll ever find are at the humble bundles. 1$ will get you a row of games, and if you pay above the average(usually 5$+), you'll get even more.

But regarding Steam: They have killer deals going all the time. Carrier Command looks pretty damn cool and is -50% right now. If I had 25$ left in my coin jar, I'd probably get it. I did get Crysis Warhead for 5$ and got crazy good DLC deals for my Space Marine before I quit playing it. Btw, Portal+Portal 2 are -75% right now.

This is true.

It wouldn't be so bad if the flow of the game isn't demolished almost each and every patch.

True, thus I only bought about $30 bucks worth of MC. For a game with limited content at the moment, that is all I am willing to pay. If they want more money from me, there has to be more contents worth buying.

Don't buy mechs, buy premium time, it is much better value to play the game to win chills to buy mechs (and the mech bays you need to house them without having to sell them all the time)
