Carole Ruggier - Cockpit Betty Voice from MW2 http://youtu.be/dbCDQY_-8C0

Absolute classic portrayal of the calm, level-headed voice of your machine that would rattle off every single piece that had just been blown to bits while you panic and scramble for the override.

George Ledux - Duncan Fisher, Solaris 7 Announcer MW4:Mercs/MW:LL http://youtu.be/wVRoPqTVcC0

A lively crowd favorite of the newer games. His commentary has quickly captured the hearts and minds of many Mechwarriors and has become a staple of the matches on Solaris 7.

Gregory Alper & Jeehun Hwang - Composers of the MW2 soundtracks http://youtu.be/WT8i6vAsgYk

The music from all 3 Mechwarrior2 games is something I do not think any later version has matched. From a more electo-symphonic set from the clans Refusal War to the gritty metal of Inner Sphere mercenaries fighting for cash, these tracks have stayed in peoples CD players for years.

Now lets say if you had to choose only one of these. Which one is the most important to you? Which of these makes it a "Mechwarrior" game more then the others? Or did you hate all of them and want some new talent to take over?

Definitely the Soundtrack from Mechwarrior 2 (Hwang/Alper)! I have all tracks from all MW2-Games. It's pure nostalgia! I LUV IT SO MUCH! :)

YOU ARE SO EVIL!!!!

I want both Betty and Music please!!! PLEASE!!!

I do have to break down to Jeehun Hwang though... Betty sets the action but the music sets the atmosphere... plus I still listen to the MW2 soundtracks very often

Without doubt, the most important sound in this game for me will be what's emanating from my cockpit. The voice that tells me I'm about to 'splode better be one that I like listening to repeatedly. Everything else pales in comparison.

Betty.
Because I typically yell out "Yes dear shut it" when I get warnings both in games and in real life.
I get strange chuckles at the VGCorps pods.

Okay, I have to admit, I came in late. I started with MW3, and my Windows 7 won't even let me load that, so MW2 is looking like an impossibility. That being said, atmospheric and mood-setting music is a must-have. MW4:Mercs's "Hunter" was good stuff too. I kinda prefer the MW3 cockpit voice over MW2's, but again, I didn't grow up with the latter.

I voted for None of them.
Whilst I liked them , they are relicks from the Past.
Personaly and this may be an idea for the dev's. I would like to be able to set the music to play tracks or a playlist in my iTunes folder
and like you can with mobile phones etc choose the voice style from a selection of voices.

That with a bit of tweaking should keep people very happy.

MW2 had great cockpit sounds...the powerup sequence was excellent; it really set the tone and atmosphere for the mission at hand, and it even changed from planet to planet, and read mission-specific events, such as "Incoming message: T5 unit has been repaired. Proceed to Nav Sigma for dustoff. Sensors indicate...friendly dropship has entered atmosphere. ETA dropship: one minute." I would gladly pay extra if it secured her talents.

Then you have the missile alerts. In the newer games, it sounds like a cell phone giving you a heads-up that you just got a text message. But, in MW2, this loud klaxon went off, and it was an urgent, immediate warning that rocket-propelled whupass was headed your way, fast. Loved it. :)

However...and call me crazy for saying this, but...I think Tim Russ (the actor who played Tuvok on Star Trek: Voyager) would make an EXCELLENT alternate voicepack. Seriously. He is even open to doing voicework for pc games, and has done so in the past.

Either way...alternate voicepacks would be a great addition for paid content; things like this really let the players get attached to their favourite machines. :D

Music is of little concern for me. But that's just me.

However breathing new life in old tracks would be excellent and not very consuming.
Klepacki did this in Earth Assault (hell march 3 is an unholy abomination though) and it's OST sits right next to classical C&C ones in my music folder.

Yes, it just hit me now how much more jarring the various klaxons are for MW2. I hope that kind of sound design returns.

I choose Michael Mancuso. If I'm going to be listening to a good deal of mission briefings, I want it to be him that gives it.

Ahhh! Why must you make me choose?! They're all very talented and the nostalgia they have in the games are priceless!

Btw why didn't you include Duane Decker? His music from MW4: Veng was amazing, too. Stutter shark (MW:4 Menu theme) to me is THE theme music when I'm tweaking stuff in the 'mech lab. Better than MW3's, anyway.

Edit:

And he too, his dialogs in the debriefings are sooooo perfect...

I'm not sure I understand the question? Are you asking who we'd want to hear as our mechs "Voice" in the cockpit?

If so I'd have to go with none of the above. I want Sean Connery.

Nevermind after reading a few post I got the drift of the question...

I still wouldn't choose any of them though, I always liked the cast from MW3.

Good point on the MW3 briefings, I completely forgot about those. However, I do not know if this game will need them, being round based multiplayer. Though his vocal talents could be used in other roles.

The MW4 Music had some good tracks, but does not match the fanbase the old MW2 tracks does and those are the 3 sound based things I have seen people asking about in the suggestions and general forums.

This was a tough call, but I had to give the nod to Jeehun Hwang. The iconic MW2 soundtrack is made all the more impressive by the knowledge that it was the start of his now-distinguished composing career. He didn't just know how to make the music sound good; he knew how to make each track set the tone for the entire mission, and do so without becoming overly repetitive.

Carole Ruggier all the way. In fact, if they had it where you had to pay to have her specific voice as the Betty of your machine, I'd imagine MW:O would immediately turn a profit.

But dang those choices were tough. Duncan is my #2 though. "This match brought to you by Pharoah Beer. Taste forever."

This question is so not fair :/

Do you know how hard it is to choose between Betty and Duncan?

Voted for Duncan.
