Please, hire someone, or have a community mod dedicated to collecting posts like these, or just post them in one easy place for people to find? You could seriously improve the community here if this sort of stuff was more clearly communicated.

Don't take my first post the wrong way. I do appreciate the work that these guys are doing to get this thing sorted.

Just so everyone knows, data entry is nothing like troubleshooting program code. Data entry is brain-mulching monotony that you assign to people you don't like. Troubleshooting program code is takes skillset that takes years for most people to learn and a specific mindset to master. It's hardly boring stuff.

I'm not hating, I'm honestly curious but what progress have we seen on the netcode?

This isn't going to be a "release it in little chunks" thing. It's a huge project and will radically and fundamentally change the way the game works. That's why it's taking so long. We won't see incremental changes. We'll get a huge lump at a time and we will KNOW when it hits.

Basically, what that means is that we won't see any progress until they're ready for us to see it, and when we do see it, it'll be big.

Yeah, guess you are right on that. It does get frustrating though seeing it not change for so long and still seeing more and more new things come into the game, some of which take advantage of the netcode.

honestly, that´s exactly what people told to the ranting (and in many cases unfairly accusing) crowd over and over again...but if they/ we do, that´s "fanboyism" or what ever... netcode is long lasting and very boring thing to do...and has gone a long way so far... i can remember from closed beta when EVERY light mech (well mostly jenners back then) was warping like crazy... for me, that´s 90% gone...

i appreciated that work weeks before and still do, and i for my part KNOW that it will be only a matter of time until it´s fixed for most, if not all other players... but, as always in game development, it´s not "one line of code fixes issues with all systems at once"... changing one line, or just one digit, may affect the whole damn code - or mess things up for specific systems while fixing the problems for other´s ... but i guess there are still and will be people around who don´t WANT to know and understand that... they want perfectionism falling from the sky...

again...PGI is one of the first companies working on this very new engine at all... there were no ready made dev tools to work with that other companies have... both PGI and us as testers had to find out what the engine can and can´t do (like high speeds and all), and we did... making an engine do what it isn´t designed for is also not as easy as some ppl might think, especially if you are creating an online only game... crytek also just STARTED to work on the online capability of CE3 about 6 month´s ago, so the first CE3 version PGI used wasn´t even designed for online games...

there are probably 1000000 more issues they had and still have to fight with, while they are "hanging around lazily on the bahamas and grabbing yo moneez"...

oh and one thing in addition: MWO is a chance for us to help them create a great mechwarrior game...and it´s a great chance for PGI creating a game with patience, without having a gun pointed at their head by *add major company here* to rush out an unfinished product or finish the work of others who messed up some game with some "Duke" guy in the first place... with MWO, Piranha can realize their own visions, and imho we should give them and us that chance....so let´s not be those guys with the gun

yeah that's something to consider a whole new game with an untried engine, a vehicle manufacturing compony ceo would shudder at that. the game's started as a gamble for how much content needed to be made and how much new stuff needed to be developed for this uncharted territory.

WISH NETCODERS LUCK! KEEP SUPPORTING NETCODERS!

First off, All Hail the Netcoders!

That said, it's very hard to tell the difference between the people who are being understanding and reasonable, and the fanboy portions of the community. Phrases like "They're working on the issue," "Wait until X is implemented," and (gods help us) "It's still in Beta" incite flames that certain areas of the afterlife would shy away from. And while "When it's done." is the only honest and viable answer they can give regarding time frame, it's also the same song that would be sung if they were lying through their teeth and taking as much cash as they could before their game imploded.

When you get right down to it, it comes down to faith: Either they're lying whole cloth, or they're killing themselves on this project and being burned in effigy for their efforts. No amount of persuasion, "evidence" on either side, or attempts at reasoned debate are going to change anyone's mind. RL has taught us this.

With that said, I can appreciate the undertaking that group of people have been tasked with, and I hope to be vindicated when they pull through the other end. I will repeat those phrases as needed, choosing to give the developers the benefit of the doubt, and hope that this title will deliver on its potential.

Another positive thread +1....I agree and hope the Devs know there is still a lot of support for them and the game....even if the QQs have hijacked most of the forums.

Where did you find that post? It should be pinned. In the announcements. So every time someone ******* and moans about "ooo PGI don;'t care about netcode", we can just link the ***** to this.

If only there was a Dev Tracker thread pinned to this forum........

Let me try that again...

Kudos to the Netocders!

I work in IT and know how grueling finding even a limited number of bugs in a system that you merely have to return to working order can be. In a system that will likely need to have sections rebuilt whole cloth, that task has got to be staggering.

That team has my appreciation, and I hope they receive the recognition they deserve once that project is completed.
