Check out that video!

That's way different than what we've got now! I like it.

Now I really want to see what SRM formations will look like.

grouping looks way too tight - wait until the complaints drop on the forums.

It looks cool and you can definitely see how much more accurate it'll make the missiles.

I expect complaints, absolutely, but perhaps that just means that missile damage needs a bit of a nerf (0.1, perhaps)?

Its always going to be a tug of war between grouping of missiles and missile damage.

SRMS diverge then pinch together at 130m

its quite nice and adds skill to being an A1 SRM6 boat. though many people probably don't know about it.

at 130m the missile convergence is about the same as at 60m but not as good as 0m

hope they don't change it for SRMs.

Im fine with direct fire LRMs being in a tighter grouping. At least if an LRM boat is direct firing you, you can still shoot back at him. The imbalance with LRMs has always been the indirect fire because they're doing massive damage to you and you can't hurt them in return.

Why do you think that? Artemis is supposed to be a big upgrade. LOS and non-ecmed targets only.

Whiners gonna whine.

Who has PGI historically paid attention to? People with well thought-out and fact based arguments, or people crying?

If Artemis was't a must-have nobody would use it. Would you rather have a bunch of equipment nobody uses?

Artemis is supposed to be compulsory for missile boats. The only reason you wouldnt use Artemis is if you only had one LRM launcher and didnt have the crit slots/tonnage for Artemis (like the LRM10 on a stock dragon). But obviously single LRM5s and LRM10s are garbage because AMS destroys their entire volley. If youre gonna use LRMs you need to go with 15s or 20s and you need Artemis.

yeah but it looks sick!!!

also i think they should increase the spread on non Artemis missiles. so that only 70% of LRMs will hit target.

on the note of balance.
i don't think the people who play with weapon behavior and the people who tweek weapon numbers work together for balance.

though they should. weapon behavior is a huge part of balance. and LRM tightness should be adjusted as well as damage for a good balance. we saw what happened when they gave LRMs 90* dive into target.

Eh, I think Artemis is in a decent way already, and with these changes could be in a better position. Right now, I only take Artemis on SRMs, because, chances are, if you're using LRMs you're going to have a TAG anyways, and Artemis doesn't work with TAG. Artemis is also pretty heavy when you get that many missiles together, so I think its got enough trade offs to not always be worth taking.

And that's pretty much all one can ask for. That there be at least a niche use for an item, or lack thereof.

I, for one, welcome our new spirally missile overlords.

I'll refrain from commenting on what this means for balancing until I actually see it in the game, but I have to say this:

The double helix looks beautiful from the side, as does the "ring of fire" from the launcher's view. Kudos, very stylish!

tell that to stock/ cannon mechs, they're all being made redundant because of things like this, so many creations.... rendered pointless.

Garth said there was a "small change to ECM" coming in February 5th's patch.

Just don't get too invested in that, as he said, anything can change.
