My feeling is if you got a big enough organization, like 40+ people syncing at once, you'd get a majority in the same game since the queue just got 40 people at the same time so what's it gonna do except put them together.

At that point you can TK all the pugs and run shenanigans to boost the score of a particular player so that he does like 2k damage with 6 kills. Repeat until he is the mechwarrior champion!

It's entirely possible that sync drops will be prevalent in the larger VoIP servers since they'll be able to solo sync drop and then disperse into smaller groups once they've gotten on a team together. It won't be perfect, but it should be enough to make a significant difference to the leader board with dedicated groups doing this.

It's hard enough to herd cats to get two 8-drops synced against each other, herding 40+? What am I an US public school teacher?

I was under the impression that your score in the competition is actually your Elo rank score.. not the score from your matches. The winner is going to be whoever the system deems the highest skilled player in the game.

So playing a billion games isn't gonna actually help you, if you lose them all.

EDIT:
Nope.. I was mistaken. It's some other weird combination of magical stats.

Quote

For the Light, Medium, Heavy, and Assault Champion challenges we are using an aggregate score that weighs Win/Loss Ratio, Kills, Kill Assists, Capture Assists, Spotting Assists, and Games Played

Well, I'm no threat on the field, so I probably won't be TK'd... But if I was TK'd on a tournament weekend, then I would....

*drumroll, please*

... Contact support@mwomercs.com with a description of the event, names of those involved, the map, the mechs used, any relevant text chats, and a screenshot if possible. Also, There's a Thread For That! http://mwomercs.com/...ploitsgriefing/

I know, I just dropped the Mod bomb. sorry.

  • Someone will fail to read the rules and be outraged when they realize that playing with a groups invalidates the entire weekend*
* PLEASE NOTE For this particular challenge event, only solo player scores will count towards the leaderboards. Players who are within a group of 2 or more people for any match played during the event, will not have their scores counted towards any leaderboard challenges.

No.

Per Ekman on the tournament thread, you are not somehow disqualified from the tournament for playing in a group during the weekend. They only discard the scores from those specific group matches. The rules language was confusingly worded.

"You are not disqualified for playing in groups. Your scores will not count towards the leaderboard challenge if you are grouped."

The OP was referring to someone who feels like they are getting unfairly "disqualified" by running in a group, without having read the rules, therefore having wasted their weekend... :-). I can see it happening, someone with a master plan to group-farm all weekend, just to realize on Monday that group scores were tossed out.

Actually I wasn't, but I wish that I had read this first so I could have said it was before editing my post. ;)

Ah. Well, just FYI then. ;) It is a misunderstanding I've been seeing in a few places (which, I imagine, is why they sought to clarify).

I predict the urban mech will take it all in a last minute head shot to a raven 3L.

So. Everyone's going to be alt+f4ing to deny opponents score this weekend? Sounds like fun.

I'll be playing my Raven 3L, so I can get more people mad about video games. And then I'll go play in my other Founder mechs so I can have a CBill money bath.

Heyheyheyhey....
I see what's goin on here...

Don't make me turn the hose on you guys. So... It's thread... Kinda looking like it's going for jettisoned communications, since it is really not too much a productive conversation about MW:O...

It can stay as along as we all agree... Common, hold hands now... As long as we all agree not to condone team killing, use insults to describe other players and users, no matter what mech they run, and to abide by the Code of Conduct. Thanks :-D

Players who realize they wont be able to play enough to actually win will form 4 mans and farm the living hell out of contestants in founder and hero mechs.

What class will be the hardest to win? Will the 3L and A1 sweep their classes?

I have opted in but now you are all raining on my parade! I know I have little chance but now I have zero! I'll still try, and hopefully gun down the people at the top if Im not there.

Here's what we can expect to happen:
  • The ultimate winners will not necesarily be the best player, but the one who spends the most time playing this weekend

HA! Well I'm going to go play for 48 hours straight, play a bazillion games and still not win because I suck at this game. So you will be wrong and you will have to just sit there in your wrongness and BE WRONG.

SO THERE!

Seriously though, what does PGI have to do to get a break with you guys? They're making an effort to resolve issues that they've identified with the matchmaking system (i.e. not enough solo play data for players) and the first thing that happens is you break out the Wahmbulance over how easy the rules are to game and how there was no notice and how it's all going to suck anyway 'cos it's dumb and stuff.

Or is your self-confidence so fragile and so irreversibly tied up in this game that you're pre-preparing excuses for when you don't win?

Geez, just jump in and have some fun. Stop taking yourselves so freaking seriously.
