Alvor: Map of the universe which can be traveled by players to various missions & Solaris?
A: PVE is not currently in the queue, and may never reach the light of day. Solaris is possible, but not for at least 12-18 months. An interstellar map is coming with Community Warfare.

I am a sad panda.

"Good"? What would be so bad about PvE combat? Is the concern about this taking possible development resources away from existing content or something?

Mind you - I'm speaking from the viewpoint of someone who was incredibly disappointed when Mechwarrior 5 changed from being an awesome, singleplayer / co-op, story-driven experience to what Mechwarrior Online is now.... I understand the reasons and enjoy MWO regardless to a lesser extent, but would've drastically preferred a singleplayer experience vesus a strictly competititve one, and hope a singleplayer experience can get made at some point in the future. I know this isn't really going to be possible unless funding dramatically increases though.

Whats wrong with PVE? I think it could be a lot of blowing up wave after wave of bots or doing Co-op missions.

He didn't say PvE was impossible, though! If there's enough demand, they would certainly make it happen! Just...after they finish up all the other HUGE features they haven't quite implemented yet >.>

Pve burns itself out faster in mmo type games. Take swtor for example. 200 people and rommors say 300 million in development and people got bored with it. They lost... I don.t remember the numbers but i think a half million players in a few months time because they based their development mostly on story and pve.

If we want it it might be time to put our money and time where our mouth is. Pve server bought and run by us. Pvp on player made levels. Pirate hunting in the periffery. Urban mechs. Training grounds. One on one mode. Can be done by us. But we will have to spend the time and money to do it our selves. Be part of the solution. Oh..... Wait.... I would rather qq. About the good game they made so far. Qqqqqqqqqqqqqqqqq

P.s. That cat looks like a guy i work with.

The campaign was always my favorite part of the Mech Warrior series of games. I only did the online stuff when i was bored of the missions.

As much as I'd like PvE, games need to pick either/or. Not both. Firefall is trying to be both an epic story driven PvE and a AAA PvP "E-sport" and is failing miserably at both right now. PvE just doesn't have the staying power PvP does, AI is predictable and gets stale playing against after a while. PvE is very routine, and routines get old fast. Don't get me wrong, I loved the previous MW PvE.

But I believe PvP only is the way to keep this game alive long enough for it to get on it's feet.

Phib. Would you be willing to pay for it? I would. How many people does pgi need to make a single player campaine? How much would it cost? Could we help them make it? We would crowd fund a sub section of a game that allready has founders funding it. I think i would give them 30$ for a shot at a campaigne. One level every two weeks for a year. Just a thought.

PvE content would require special maps (which pulls people away from making new PvP maps), AI scripting (which pulls coders away from any number of projects), voice actors and or live actors for your lancemates (which aren't cheap), and a story (which most of us could probably spit out in an afternoon if we wanted to).

Adding it in is not impossible (and I too would spend money on single player DLC further down the road) but lets get the PvP aspect (which is WAY easier) done first.

Of course PVE could be great. What is everyone arguing about?

Yeah, in a heartbeat. I would give them alot of money. I would happily give them $100 for a decent campaign. Who would spend $100 on a video game? I normally wouldn't. PGI has a monopoly right now. If they put out a quality pve game with co-op and all that neat stuff. I would smile as i punched in my credit card info and ate ramen for 2 weeks.

All I can say is anyone who was expecting PVE anywhere in the foreseeable future pretty much just ignored everything about this game and the design goals of the devs so far.

I must have missed the post where anyone said they were expecting PVE. I think the OP just was sad it may never happen at all. I don't know why anybody would not want some PVE or PVPVE. Having both teams stop to wipe out some clan intruders before continuing to slug it out would be epic!

You'd be amazed how many expect PvE just because the other MW games had it and think it would be so easy to implement.

To be fair, a lot of the PvE players are looking for story, unique maps, and unpredictable goals. That's another game in itself, sure, but it's a valid desire.
