Do you complain about every damn game you play?
Maybe Super Mario Bros. is for you, no unlocks required to play.

One of the reasons that MWO is so hard on newbies is because it is not true to the Battletech / Mechwarrior universe. In the actual books you find that there are not many Assault Mechs available at all, a few more Heavies but that most mechs are usually Mediums with the next most common the lights, but everyone is running around in Assaults or so it seems. In the universe of Battletech you had to be a very good pilot in lighter things before they let you get into a heavy let alone an Assault, unless of course you daddy is rich enough to buy you one that is. And the number of mechs running ECM is ridiculous to be true to the universe it wasn't that common. My other main gripe is the LRM's, they are an indirect fire weapon and unless you are marked by TAG or Narc then there is NO reason why most of them hit the centre torso.

I'm a casual player, and I'm doing fine in this game. My favorite mech is stalker, and I have 3 of them mastered. LRM is very easy to deal with, take cover or moving perpendicular, and twist your torso. It is all in the controlling of your mech. The game does take a good deal of time to get used to, but if we are casual player, then we play for fun, aren't we

I confess this game could be a lot less complicated. Figuring out your capacity (threshold before shutdown) is a complicated mathematical endeavor when in every past game you just knew or you could do it on your fingers.
Same with dissipation (cooling) rates.
There's the fact that after 22 SHS, you get faster cooling than half that number of DHS. But you'll never have the same capacity, even though SHS should also give you more in that regard at that level too. It's...actually impossible to explain.
Then there's the penalty system which is starting to get more consistent but it's, meh.
I suppose the only easy thing about it is that the system encourages boating and practically rewards it -- but then it has a tacked on different system to punish you for it unless you space out your shots because people started boating.
I confess it has me royally confused.
