The amount of times I've been yelled at because "PPCs do no damage below 90m" is infuriating.

Sometimes a light simply come by and stop ~60 meter away from my hex PPC Stalker just to learn that PPC actually DO damage under 90 meters.

 :)

While my x is not capital, I do inform people about the issue, when I see it. Although I never say they do no damage, I say you could do more damage. Anyway, most likely I once tried to help you, while spectating. At least I recall watching two-part pilot name kurita K2 with PPCs to fight some assault from 50 meters, when he could have easily widen the cap to 90m.

I won't hold the 'x' against you, since it was lower case

I don't own any K2s - I'm usually using Stalkers. I too have noticed some players walking right up to an opponent with their PPCs, but once they're that close, there isn't much they can do about it. They can't back up any faster than their opponent will advance to close the range.

I'm the opposite - I usually hang back to make the shots from range. I try to stay 500-700m from where I anticipate the opposing team will show up (500-700m from either the ridge in frozen city, or the break in the ship run aground in forest, or on one of the outlying hills in caldera). I don't really have a favorite spot in the city map yet - it's hard to predict which route the opponents will take. I am sometimes told to 'stick with the group', but that's usually a bad suggestion since 'the group' wades in to fight at close range, or wanders in front of my shots as I fire (when you're zoomed in maximum, you don't have peripheral vision to notice someone walking into your line of fire until it's too late). I try to tail 'the group' a few hundred meters behind if they're moving as a clump, so that I can watch their backs in case a light tries to circle them.

Just wanted to bump this for the benefit of a player I encountered today (the evening of March 6th) in River City. Not going to name/shame, but he piloted a Raven 4L (he was one of four Raven 4L pilots on the opposing team, one of which I killed with standard PPCs at less than 90m range in the water portion of map coordinate G6, although he was off camera at the time so may not have seen it). The ECM was crazy in this match, and I was thankful to have all direct-fire weapons. Our team lost, but it came down to only 2 mechs standing - a Stalker vs a Raven 4L, both of which were pretty beat up. This was my first encounter against four Raven 4Ls at once (none on our side), so I'm surprised it was that close. Maybe Elo is working better than some forum posters would have us believe.

Oddly, his name didn't have a capital X before or after it, nor was he the first one killed. I think he may have been the 5th killed on his team. I should mention that I'm thankful he was playing the game rather than complaining about P2W or unfair coolant flushes on the forums.

Hopefully he'll search my pilot name since we exchanged opinions during the match, and he'll see this thread, and learn that PPCs do in fact do damage under 90m - just reduced.
