You can't really go wrong with the X52, either version. It doesn't have CH build quality, Thrustmaster innovation, or Logitech looks. But it is a fantastic all around system with some nice programming software, and the cheapest HOTAS (T.Flight X aside) at 200$.

I remember playing MW4 with a joystick from the start and never bothered with a mouse. It just doesn't feel right to me without a joystick. I'll be picking up one for this game, but I always used Sidewinders and they don't seem to be in production anymore, so I'll be in the market for something durable.

My ex-wife got me this Saitekst290pr0 back in '05 to replace my Sidewinder. Up until 2 months ago it finally bit the dust! lol
7 years of daily abuse is hard to beat! If I could find another one I'd buy it today, but I did a search on it & it appears they dont
make it anymore. :-(

7 years!? I couldn't keep a Sidewinder for more than 2.

I looked up Saitek's store and the pickings seem rather slim. The Aviator looks both decent and ridiculous. As long as the buttons are programmable this thing might just do the trick...

Had a Sidewinder Pro for ages but it broke a while ago :).
At the moment i'm aiming for the "Thrustmaster Hotas Warthog" but i'm wondering how Torso Twists with Pedals compare to Torso Twist by Joystick.
As far as i know the Thrustmaster has no Z-Axis so you need to use Pedals for Torso Twists. And I don't want to spent shitload's of money on this nice Joystick and dump it after 2 Weeks because Pedal Torso Twist sucks.

Can anyone eventually post 1 or 2 Lines who used Pedals for Torso Controll back in the old days .

Now that mouse control has been confirmed I just hope there's a reason to use a joystick.

Yeah, i suspect they should do something to balance it out or something. Really seems like a stick should be used here. I know the mouse was better in 4 and especially 3, seems like an opportunity to rectify that.

I'm looking at getting a saitek cyborg V.1 for a lefty stick while I use the mouse in my right hand, unless MWO is set up in some what that a joystick is better for aiming, in which case I'll be using my sidewinder precision pro (so duel sticks). I also have a Sidewinder 3D, but the adapter costs as much as the cyborg and has more buttons which makes it more useful for my purposes.

What sort of set ups do people use for "steering" sticks? It isn't exactly a common set up, I imagine you would use the mouse for aiming up and down + torso twist and put steering and throttle on the stick?

I'm (still) curious how common the offhand stick (for movement) configuration is, does anyone use it?

Nope. Only a throttle with radial slider, like this...and pedals, probably. Mouse do the job far better than stick.

Dusted off the ole Cyborg Graphite from the days of MW2,3,4. Was a devil of a time finding the drivers for it, but all is good now, cant wait to use it again.

I'm laughing at the number of people wondering if joysticks will be supported in MW:O. First off, is there any other way to play a MW title (a REAL mechwarrior title, xbox doesn't count)? And second off, they're already advertising a joystick setup, you must have seen it around before.

I have only ever used joystick for single player games. It's just 10 times easier to aim with your mouse. No matter what joystick you end up buying you wont get the same precision you will with a gaming mouse. It is however more fun to play with a proper joystick. I like the x52 pro myself but haven't tried that many joysticks as I mostly play with mouse and keyboard.

Sorry but your wrong.

I have played MW2 and MW3 in single player mode and then played MW4 and MWM in the NBT league and I didn't use anything other than a Sidewinder Joystick, and I was one of the best pilots in my time. I found the mouse to be awkward and clumsy, so it depends on your personal preferences. If you can kick *** with a mouse then use a mouse, if you prefer a Joystick then use a Joystick.

I have an old Sidewinder sitting in my cupboard that I have been saving for MWO, it's about ten years old and is still in perfect condition. However i'm thinking about buying a new logitech, but I will wait till the game is released before I do.

Yeah, they discontinued those old Cyborg designs.

And anyone that is still holding onto their Sidewinder has the holy grail of joysticks.

I still have my old sidewinder, regular AND force Feedback, I don't use them anymore, but would NEVER even DREAM of letting them go.

My only joystick is a Gravis with a serial port connection if I recall correctly. I don't even own a machine with serial ports anymore since abandoning my ancient Compaq I had kept alive for the sole purpose of playing MW2 (my wife made me).

I appreciate all the commentary, because I am wildly out of date on gaming accessories, and even though Amazon has a lot of reviews, it's better to get the feedback closer to the users in MWO.

I have the Logitech G940 (joystick, throttle quadrant and pedals). I use it in my combat flight sims (Cliffs of Dover, DCS A-10C). It is force feedback and is a very precise stick. It is comfortable in the hand. Plenty of buttons to program for easy access to critical systems, etc.

It has some glitches, not big ones just annoying at times (trim axis jumps a little at times when throttle is moved very fast). I would recommend it to anyone without hesitation, my experience with this stick has been very good so far. I have had it since December 2011 with no problems at all yet.

I use a Logitech freedom 2.4 ( sidewinder died...). It HAS better be supported correctly by the game or I'll go blind with rage! BF3 doesn't even support joystick correctly and there ARE choppers and planes in the game, I was soooo disappointed!

Never played the game guys but it seems the Joystick option is secondary to Keyboard & Mouse?

Wow, no one else has a Saitek X45 HOTAS? I bought it used, and works good, currently building muscle to overcome the spring so I can make very small adjustments when aiming. I'm planning to get one of the Saitek pedals for torso twist. Beats using the under throttle rocker switch.

Also, putting some No-Skid shelf lining underneath the Joysticks helps allot to keep them from moving.
