3L Killer

Just figured out a tactic that I've used to kill the marauding 3Ls in four consecutive matches. It's called braking. See, for some reason, when they go into their "circle of doom" with my Jenner, they become over confident or something like that. But after I brake, they usually weave around confused for a minute before slowing to a complete halt, making them an easy target. I'm beginning to believe that, like the T-Rex, 3Ls' vision is based on movement.

I use a different tactic. It is called SRM-6. I have also found the tactics known as ERPPC, Gauss, and AC20 equally effective.

Best tactic against 3L? Anything with 2+ SSRM and ECM. Then again, if you can counter their ECM they won't even get near you to kill them.

Since netcode improvement it is possible, though still rather difficult, to kill 3Ls with SRMs and jump jets. Run straight at them, slam them in the face with SRMs, run past, do a 180 jump jet turn, rinse, repeat. Make note of where your SRMs come out of your mech and make sure to pass the 3L on that side (doesn't matter for Jenner, does matter for Commando and 2x/4x Raven). Don't get in a circle fight. If you need respite from the streaks hitting you, run behind a building/hill to break lock. With these tactics I can usually defeat average to below average 3L pilots using my 4x Raven. Haven't tested my Jenners enough since JJ fix, but they should be equally viable.

However, no light mech on this planet can defeat a 3L that has a "skilled" pilot except another 3L. I use skill in quotation marks because streaks require none. When are they getting balanced again??

And that's the problem..... when the counter for something (3L and ECM) is only itself.

If you like playing lights get one with ECM and protect your team, nobody cares if you are be able to kill a Raven in your Jenner.

Then what's the point of a Jenner if it can't beat a Raven 3L or carry ECM?

Ravens are more like raptors. The one that stops is the distraction and its the ones that come in from the sides you have to worry about.

there are a lot of terrible 3L pilots, circle of death they should win that in a very general sense.
once you add building/cover into the mix a jenner will spank that 3L with ease.
