What was your favorite match of the weekend?

Mine was last night when I brought my triple AC/2 Cataphract with 12 tons of ammo on an Alpine drop with a pick-up team. It was Conquest, and we were a very heavy team, so I thought we'd be outcapped...

...but instead we slinked through the mountains very quickly to snag a couple cap points while our Medium Scout harassed the enemy team. We then slightly split up to get more caps and I went straight uphill as high as I could to look-out, then we got word that our scout was popped. He relayed their position right before he went down, so I turned eyes over there and eventually saw their attack lances incoming. I relayed their positions to my team, and they swooped into motion to intercept.

12 tons of ammo... longest ranged weapon in the game... 3 of them. Hehehehe. I let rip and held their entire support lance at bay while my team snuck up a valley right under them and wiped out their brawlers one-by-one as they tried to close on me...and I just kept barking from the top of a mountain the whole time... it was kinda hilarious, I had a hard time fighting because I kept chuckling to myself. I was strafing and pelting 4 different positions, moving back and forth to dodge those slow Gauss Slugs (that's right, I said "slow") and then it kinda eventually devolved into an all-out brawl as everyone converged int he valley.

We won by resources right before taking them all out...

Had a match on river city where it was 3 on 1(me) to end the match. I took out all 3 to finish w/ 5 kills and 3 assists. I know thats not too impressive for alot of you, but for me, 5 kills in one match and taking out 3 mechs all gunning for me was sublime and probably only ever gonna happen this one time. :)

I took my brand, spankin' new Jenner F out for its first round, and got 5 kills, 900 damage. Good first run, little Jenner... you and I are going to have a long and fruitful relationship :)

I was using my god-mode AS7-RS sniper (4x ERPPC and Gauss) had to run to the washroom during launch and came back to find myself surrounded by 4 enemies only 1.5 minutes into a conquest map. I was able to 1-shot a 3L before they took me down. It was so satisfying but I also learned an important lesson about going AFK.

While it was a loss, it was also on Alpine.

Rigger and I went out to dismantle a Centurion that strayed from his group. Shortly after getting rid of that enemy I got to see what 6 volleys of LRM15s does to the torso + cockpit of a Raven.

I was on your team. I remember thinking that was pretty good for a Jenner to do 900 damage.

With the amount of hours some of us put in....it just seems like one lonnnggg match.

Tons of great people on the boards...way to many fun matches to recall specifics. in 299 games, I only ran into one debbie downer who barked the entire match on how worthless an atlas pilot i was and how my team was depending on me for success and I shouldn't have died...lol.

so 297 fun matches with great people
1 butt-hurt complainer
1 unplayable bugged match

pretty good overall experience if ya ask me :)

I'm not thinking of a specific match at the moment, but rather the weekend as a whole. Due to the Hero mech C-Bill bonus I decided to play my 2xGauss Ilya all of Friday, all of Saturday, and a good chunk of Sunday to cash in. I feel like, in all that time, I taught a whole bunch of people why it's such a bad idea to overheat and shut down right in front of a Mech packing 2 Gauss Rifles. Headshots!

Okay, so now I am thinking of a particular match. This was on Forest Colony. I'm in my Ilya and I decide to follow one of our Atlases to where Epsilon usually is by the tunnel. It's a little over a minute in when an enemy Atlas D-DC decides to charge our position. He's probably thinking to himself "RAWR I'm a badass!" while he's charging me and my friendly Atlas. He fires all his guns in a blaze of glory.

He overheats and shuts down. I aim at his left eye. A nearly untouched, unscathed AS7-D-DC instantly drops dead like a giant 100 ton sack of potatoes.

The only thing that would have made the moment more perfect was if he shouted some type of obscenity when his almost pristine Atlas went down to a headshot, but I guess the world isn't perfect :)

I liked the match where I had 3 kills and 5 assists. The first 2 kills were an ECM commando and an ECM raven who though I was easy picking. The third was another ECM raven.

And people said the Pretty Baby was terrible. :)

Well I was rocking my brand new Trebuchet 7M at Forest Colony. I spawned on the side with the water to the left and the forest to the right. We went right and I started laying down some LRM volleys. I can't remember the first parts of the match but the last parts were the most memorable. I was focused on an LRM Stalker but he had me pinned so I JJayed and pealed out to get away from his volleys. A couple teamates then started pinning him down to one of the rocks in the water. I tagged him and layed down some LRM support fire. He backed up to the rock and could not move in which I finished him off with LRMs and Medium Lazers and he went down pretty quick. There was one Awesome left. He was near his base and there were about three guys left (me included) on our team. I was out of lurms so I started jumping around the guy (I can't help but think how annoying I must have been) and used my streaks and lazers. He eventually legged me but I JJayed away and my teamates started focusing in on him. I could only go about 44KPH with one good leg but I still went after him and I eventually took him out with a Lazer shot to the chest. It was a very fun and intense game. I have to say that I love the new matchmaking. It could still use some work but I am enjoying it more. I had a couple more intense games at Forest Colony. I was stationed at the area where the cave mouth is and where all of those crates are. I was on top of that hill above it laying down support fire when guys started coming out of the cave. I turned my attention to them and with the help of some fast scouts below distracting them I took some out. After more guys came out and more of my team came to help I focused on a Stalker. He dmged me quite badly but he was pretty critical too. He then legged me so I JJayed (I love JJs) out. It took a lot of guys to take that Stalker out but we won. I was pretty impressed with the Treb. Its got a place in my heart now. It might even tie with the Centurion on my favorite mech so far.

Someone shouted in chat:

I don't believe in ECM and ECMs don't believe in me!

Response from the enemy team: Don't expect a victory either!

@#$& someone was right and someone was just blowing @#* up his heat sinks.

I was doing the same thing with my brand new Trebuchet that I got over the weekend. Well actually I bought it when it first came out but I was saving on getting a bigger XL.

Mine was my beloved founders Catapult C1 in a slightly modded stock loadout with BAP and Artemis (hadda represent how Liao do this ****).

The BAP was very useful for times we dropped without a light to scout and the artemis allows near zero reaction time when missiles are unleashed at near point blank, hitting before Betty has finished saying 'missile'. Also managed to give an ECM a surprise or two when getting lock without a tag.

Basically lots of jumping and using the 4ML whilst LRMs are in flight supporting team mates in a brawl. Aiming to fire between 400-180 meters with minimum exposure to fire. That is, until those pesky Ravens and Spiders turn up to shut your butt down. Felt good to be using a near stock loadout (properly imho) for much of the tourney. I will admit moving to another build towards the end, one that I have always wanted to use but not had the c-bills for and because after using it for hours and hours I was frankly quite board of jump-lock-laser-move and repeat.

And the 50% bonus was nice.

*edit*
Oh, and it just looks plain cool with the pointy nose.

**edit** just realized i misread 'match' as 'mech'... opps ummm....

The games I could tell I was going to lose were the ones that my team did not have ECM in which I was mostly correct. There were a few matches where we overcame or we nearly won but.... :)

I really enjoyed 1 match: I recognized 4 names from the leaderboards. Oddly enough every one of them had a major computer issue that caused them to DC right before they were killed.

First drop on the weekend, used my Flame. Dropped into Alpine.

This was my first drop since Alpine has veen released (I don't play during the week as I tend to play late if I do), so it was fun getting into a new map like that. My flame currently has 2 ERPPCs, and it was kind of nice stretching their range. Never wanted an XL engine in any mechs before, but I think I'll be revisiting that now however.

2nd was on Rivercity, I killed somebody (don't remember who) by PPCing them in the face, they commented "I can't believe I got killed by verybad!" So I commented back "I know!" I've never claimed to be tremendously skilled in this game, I do enjoy it however,

ELO is definately working, the games are much closer by and large it seems.

Unfortunately I'm epileptic, and it started giving me issues, so I had to cut my gameplaying short, but over all fun for a few games.

I was able to drop with Mike Forst two times in a row. I recognized a few other people too.

Favorite match for me had to be last night in a drop with 5 Pretty Baby's. 400 tons of 80+kph face punching... No ECM required :)

I was playing a Raven 3L, our team got wiped on river city, and I was still against 2 of their A1 Splatcats and a SRM6 boating stalker, who were all sitting on our cap at the docks, capping it fast. The stalker and 1 A1 were fresh, while the second A1 was moderately damaged. I had no option but to run in. I surprisingly quickly finished the damaged A1, while dodging the missiles at point blank range (keeping on the cap with them all the time). At the time I managed to down the previously-fresh stalker, the other A1 had used up all his SRM6 ammo, and my Raven was held together with duct tape and toothpicks. I proceeded to finish that A1 too, winning us the game. 6 kills and 1200 damage.
