Also, because I'm certain that many folks crapped their pants while playing mechwarrior this weekend.

pros use poop socks. As a wise man told me, after the tournament you can dry your used poopsocks out, then save them to use to start fires in an emergency.

I doubt it. I used Alpine matches to go to the bathroom, cook lunch and dinner. I even took a 10 minute nap playing base defense in my 5M one Assault game.

Your OP is one of the best I've read for any game. You rambled well

Burnt out myself after 140 games of "tryhard"; don't want to think of what shape you were in at the end.
Enjoyed killing that guy who called you out the first game I saw you, and had no probs being in the way of your alpha on the second. Wrong place wrong time.
Clearly a caffeinated beverage endorsement is in order, that or astronaut panties.

I still felt like my weekend went... where? haha. Was fun though seeing consistently good players when they were on. But when they weren't... ELO stuck some really new players in. haha.
See you on the battlefield.

Getting the ELO tuned up was a good exercise for the community though even if that's the only thing that drove this tournament style. If you get a match instantly, you can now generally count on a 8-5 or 8-6 bloodbath, which is way cool.
The spinning circle matchmaker time also lets you know you are in for an 8-0 or 0-8 if you wait too long. (I suppose for people who played more than 200 games this weekend your only option is being in for an 8-0 as they scrape enough of us mid-packers together for you to stomp.)

I think this tournament highlighted a flaw in the game which is awarding kill assists for essentially bad play. Perhaps a minimum requirement where you have to do a certain amount of damage for it to count as a legit kill assist. You could have lower threshold for light mechs and a higher one for assault mechs.
Perhaps give players an added bonus for doing damage to the killshot component. For example, if a mech gets legged, then the guys who shot up the legs get the component kill assist.
There is a lot of room for abuse when it comes to "support" stats.
