So I was just curious here so all of us drooling Mech Dorks can do some rough probability for the future beta releases.

How many of us goons have registered and requested beta access?

10,000 lets say that as a low ball estimate,

So far 2,000 beta invites have been sent (1,000 then 500, then 500 more) correct.

So if that were the case we would have a 1 in 5 chance of being chosen.

I'm guessing the number must be much larger...thoughts?

Sorry for posting on this thread if this should be in off topic.

My question is are the invites that haven't been answered are they going to be recycled?

I think there are about 2000 to 2500. This is based on what PGI has posted about the beta codes.

I'm not really a fan of any specific type of giant robots, more of a giant robots fan in general. You have no idea how ecstatic I am that what appears to be a very good mech game is coming to existence. Being a fan of things like patlabor, the older gunam series, owning quite a few battletech and mechwarrior books it is definitely great to get a "realistic" setting robot game.

What I mean is how many people do you think have applied for a beta, not been given one. I'm trying to get a rough idea of my chances, and a little blind speculation never hurt anyone.

There's at least 100,000 people registered on this board. Probably more. So I'd say 10,000 is definitely lowballing it.

the idea as i understand it is that closed beta invites are issued to meet population demands for testing. there not recycled so much as new ones are issued to bump up numbers to the required levels.

ie they either have low numbers or half the beta invites that went out were either not used or not being used enought.

its beta, some people cant handle the fact that its not a finished product. the fact that there are games out now that are being sold in there alpha format to either cover costs or because they can.

another five years i may be spending money on games that are just concept art.

I don't get why everybody is so fascinated by the beta and feel the need to make all these topics about it.

Considering the number of registered users on the forum increased by over 20,000 when beta was announced, I'm willing to bet there's roughly 110,000 people registered, assuming 10% loss of interest from when the forums started up.

So lets pick 100,000 registered users applying for beta. 2,000 keys issued so far, my chance to get in is roughly.....2%..........crap.........and there may be more than that.

If you get in you get in. If you don't you don't. Who cares? Everyone will get to play in two months.

Key words "in 2 months" I'm a teacher, so I would really love to burn up the summer gaming, which for me will be over "in 2 months" don't get me wrong I don't want to complain here, I'm just saying PGI I have two in which to spurn my wife and focus on beta testing here.

Because people are impaitent and a lot sadly see Betas as "Play Early Ticket" not "Testing Gunea Pig Crash-Helmet"
