After installing KB2670838 today via Windows Update today, my system failed three times to load into the sign on screen from the patcher. Once I was able to log into the mech lab, all matches I tried to play after that ran at 4 FPS.
Thought I'd post this to let everyone know. Might be just me, might be a wide spread issue.
Thanks!

I've confirmed that by uninstalling the patch, and restarting my system, MWO now runs as it did before. (Works fine.)

I also just found out that the patch may have caused issues with programs such as the Teamspeak graphics overlay. Some users report that by disabling that in Teamspeak, their systems ran fine.

I also had this issue after running Windows Update on Tue night. The launch window opened and displayed normally, but as soon I would press "Play", what should have been the intro sequence and successive login screen just came up completely black in window. I alos had no sound or cursor. As soon as I would click the mouse, the window would show "not responding" and I'd have to force the program to terminate.
Thankfully, I ran across this thread. Uninstalled the mentioned update and the game loads normally again. Not sure why this didn't affect all Windows users, though. It was a Win7 x64 specific update. Perhaps that's part of the reason?

Actually, turns out it was NOT this Windows update that broke the game for me, but the overlay plugin for TS3. Turned that off and now the game is working again.
