Maybe every player could have separate ELO scores for a weight class. Why not?

So, if you're bad at lights, starting a random game in a light will make you face people who are even worse at assaults.

No pilot skill for different classes. I can be good as hell in assaults, with tons of armor, big guns and missile pods, but I can be really bad driving lights the way they are not supposed to be driven.

Could be mech class or chassis or at least that's how most people seem to interpret the above and seems consistent with my own experience. Karl made several comments in a discussion on Elo here that aren't covered in the Command Chair posts.
