I will make this happen. It must happen. But how can I make an all energy Cicada, when we already have two... hmm... ideas?

That was in response to this:

The topic came up on another thread, so I figured I would put it out there for a candidate for the next Hero mech.

It could be a Cicada variant, capable only of running MLs, who's unique bonus would be Garth replacing Betty for the startup sequence.

Any takers?

On this thread.

I really do not care what is mounts, but I do hope for 4 beams and 2 missiles. I am going to be getting one.

WOO CICADA HERO MECH!

This one is the first no-brainer hero mech for me. So stoked. But it'll be out of order in my mech list and that doesn't sit well with my OCD-like tendencies... :/

What if it has no ECM?

They cannot be missiles, because then this cicada would be the only one to have missiles. And that's P2W.

False; since other scout mechs (Jenner, Raven, Commie) do missile betters, and other mediums (Centy, Hunchie, Trebby) do missiles better.

So, P2B-Different, just as it should be.

The other thing to consider is -

It could get 2 Missiles, 4 Energy and ECM,

and then have a max engine size of like 250 or something horrible.

If it has ECM, I'll buy it. ECM, with 3 or 4 energy hardpoints and 2 missile racks... well, it'd be roughly on par with the Raven 3L, though missile hardpoints would make it superior to any other Cicada variant if it also has ECM.

So if it has ECM, I buy it, and I have a fast 'mech with a bonus to C-bills. Good. However, it'd be the best Cicada variant in the game, and only available via MC. Bad.

Still might be worth buying if it lacks missile hard points and has ECM.

The DRG-FLAME is the best dragon variant, IMO. It has all of it's energy points on the arms and the ballistic is on the LT. Those features allow for builds that it the standard Dragons can't do. The energy hardpoints on the arms make for a easier group firing. The easier hardpoint config does come at a cost, no ballistics on the arms and only one ballistic hardpoint.

In contrast, other hero mechs like Death's Knell and the Yen-Lo-Wang have less variety in hardpoints. Both lack missile hardpoints, while their C-Bill variants don't.

However, a Cicada with 4 energy and 2, 2 tube, missile hardpoints (guessing) will be quite deadly and far better than any other Cicada variant. Tweaks and/or engine size could nerf the X5 considerably. I won't say it's pay to win, considering the awful Death's Knell and the meh Yen-Lo-Wang, but it's edgy. Edgy is fine, pay to win wreaks ours, and the dev team's, dreams.

Please note my opinions on the mechs I'm posting about, are from my experiences as a player. I'm sure some players can wreak hard in the Fang, Death's Knell, Wang, and other mechs I mentioned. I just rarely see them.

Ether way it's likely Garth's new ride of choice. :)

Can you imagine if those were missile ports AND it got ECM?

The Run Hot or Die tournaments would become a joke.

"OK guys the format for this drop is 2 assault, 2 heavy, 2 medium, 2 light"

*What ends up on the field*

1 DDC, 1 6-PPC stalker, 2 poptarts, 2 hero Cravens (complete with 4 mediums, 2 streaks and ECM), and 2 normal 3Ls

Doesn't that sound fun?

Meh

Without ECM, assuming it's slots are 4E/2M. That would make it like a slightly bigger Jenner. Basically gaining more protection, but also easier to hit. Not exactly an upgrade, more of a side-grade... in my opinion.

My guess is 4 energy 2 missile, however the missile hardpoints are in the side torsos, so we will see SRM6 cicadas blasting around as fast as possible. People saying 'its just a bigger jenner' are oblivious to the importance of hardpoint location. Tut Tut.

Which is what it most likely will be. They don't like hero mechs displacing normal mechs.

Looks like 4 energy(am guessing symmetry and a 4th laser in the left arm) and a pair of SRM2 or Streak 2.
That COULD be enough to make it interesting, but still sounds like a non jump capable Jenner to me.

Agreed! Jenner for the win! Well it better be 100MC or less because i have plenty of other mechs that look and work better than this thing and the mech bay better be included with the 100MC, maybe with a nice olive green tarp covering the mech to cover the 'ahem' paint job"

Those yellow things don't fit the normal look of missile tubes, they are yellow for one and aren't a tube for another.

Looks like.
CT - 2 Energy
RT/LT - 1 Energy
RA/LA - 1 Energy

6 Energy slots

If this thing has missile hardpoints, it is mine.

There are 2 SRMs on that Mech. The tubes are similar to the SRM6 on a Atlas. Just what we need another super fast Streak carrier!

Look, its a Cicada so it is automatically awesome. I'd rather it be 4 energy with JJs and KC lights but I'd take 4 energy and 2 missile hard points.

SRM6s aren't too scary when they come out of two-tube launchers. Much harder to use effectively.

On the contrary, it allows the chance to hit with them much easier as you reduce your chance of missing and enhance your chance are landing those missiles on the desired location.

So if it has no JJ or ECM its basicly a jenner-D with the downsides that it can't fly and 2 of its energy hardpoints are fixed to the torso, the only bonus will be the extra tonnage. My founders jenner can do the same things.

If it has ECM = forum will implode

If it has JJ = I may buy it but
